Description

First, let’s tackle the obvious… No, this was not an attempt to image a Series III after the AANAS90’s. This is actually a very special and historic Leyland build. As the story goes back during the mid 70’s Australia and Japan struck a trade deal which increased the number of LandCrusiers for sale down under. As an attempt not to loose market share, LeyLand Motors took to developinga special edition SWB Series III and called it GAME. All of them were painted with exactly the same Dupont Yellow Devilpaint scheme. All had the same exterior protection features consisting of the massive front roo bar, rear corner protectors, wheel arches, specialized rear bumperettes, heavy duty rear swing away tire carrier and 15” Sunrysia rims with oversized tires. They all had full interiors which consisted of door cards, carpet and headliner (no metal seen). They had the deluxe bonnets with windshield washer jets and full rear sliding windows (usually those were the fixed oval type). Theonly 3 added options were overdrive, freewheeling hubsand a safari roof (ours has the hubs). The program was unfortunately unsuccessful and forgotten lasting only 3 years producing around 300 of these special iconic vehicles. They were all numbered on the info plate inside with ours reading 259. This one was restored several years ago and should be considered with this in mind. There are the usual small oil and gearbox leaks with a some cosmetic blemishes covered up with bondo (restorer thought it best to keep as much of the truck original as possible). All of the truck is yellow, everything from inside the seat box to the rear tub. No multi colored truck here. The roof has a couple spots where the paint is lifting however the paint looks great with a very nice shine to it. The interior is in fantastic shape. The front seats along with the tunnel cover were re-trimmed in leather. The carpet has padding underneath and with the newer door seals and the rest of the interior trim the usual “soda can” effect is significantly reduced. You can actually have a conversation with the person next to you while driving (and hear what they say). The chassis looks amazing and is ingreat shape. The pictures tell the tale. There is no undercoating covering up rust or anything else and you can clearly see the vin number on the chassis (90336144A). It drives just like a Series III. It tracks very well with no crazy pulls left or right. The elliptical springs were replaced with parabolic ones, all of the electronics work and the 2.25 starts every time without hesitation. Let a couple weeks go by, go out and pull the choke then bump the key and she’ll fire right up. During the restoration all of the accessories along with the bulkhead were galvanized. The truck even has an original set of blue lettered raised rear mud flaps (try finding a pair of those). This is a truly unique vehicle. To find a GAME with all of its original parts and in this type of cosmetic condition is unheard of. Remember, this truck turns 40 next year so no warranties written or implied. Legally imported and titled here in Georgia. I would strongly encourage viewing and driving this truck. This truck lives in the garage. She has never had a drop of ethanol (recreational gas only). No radio, but wired for one.Be happy to answer any questions or forward additional pictures. Please do not contact us with silly offers.
