This is not a 100% faithful tribute to the A-990 (WO51) cars, s I can’t afford to make it one right now. It is a nice car, nd it has a lot of the styling cues of the “real” cars, ut was done on a normal working guy’s budget. You can buy a new crate HEMI as cheap as about $14K (I’ve even seen them go as cheap as $10K on Ebay), nd the value of the car would go up enough to make it worth doing, ut that’s just out of my comfort zone price wise at this time…….Or you could buy a vintage 426 HEMI and the value would go even higher. My plan was to street drive and enjoy the car, o I went with a good old 440 for reasonably priced fun………and TORQUE!!!!
** Please note that the Hanging wires under dash that are shown in some of the pictures are now all hooked up….Also the line Loc switch has been put in the shifter ball......(See picture #24)

The 2dr sedan was lowest weight that year of the coronets at 3160lbs with a V-8, o it became the natural choice for the 101 WO51 / A-990 HEMI Coronet race cars that Chrysler built in 1965
This car was bought from a long time Hemi Super Stock racer who has raced many many Mopars over the years. In his own words “I owned a bunch of really cool race cars over the years including real “WO” AND “RO” cars, nd more HEMI’s that I can remember……..Fortunately I sold them all before they were worth anything”!!!!!!!!!
He bought this car out of Alabama in about 2008…..He was told it had been a race car since 1966, nd that the 12K showing on the odometer are the actual miles the car had on it when it was turned into a race car….Although that could be 112K, have no way to honestly tell. He planned on building a WO / A-990 tribute race car out of it. The car is not meant to be an exact replica, ust a polite tip of the hat to those awesome cars. This car has the proper hood scoop / (2) headlight grille / A-100 van seats / modified passenger’s side shock tower (to clearance HEMI engines) / etc. The car had an 8-3/4 Chrysler rear under it, nd he installed a 9-inch Ford with a spool and 4:89 gears, ust for ease of availability and because he didn’t figure the stock rear would handle the HEMI power he planned to put in the car. The previous owner for many years built race HEMI’s for himself and countless other racers, o it was a natural choice to go with HEMI power. After about 7 years of ownership his retirement plans had put this car on hold long enough that he sold it to me.
THE CAR HAS:

A-990 Hemi car 2-headlight grille

Bodywork and paint are pretty typical of an old race car, as some putty and paint is tired, ut the car still looks good and will attract attention for sure on the street or the track. Could also be raced with some simple add-ons (safety belts / etc.).
You don’t see a lot of ’65 Coronet “post” cars for sale, nd very few that have been built up like this that are priced where a normal person can afford them.
Pretty unlikely you will pull up next to another one like this at a traffic light!!!
IF IT’S SO GREAT, HY ARE YOU SELLING IT???
I bought this car to store away until I had the spare time and money to put a crate Hemi in it and use it for a street / race car. Two years ago the company I work for was bought out and the new owners decided that our stored vacation had to be used up (rather than them paying us for it). In my case I had A LOT of stored vacation, o I have been taking every other week off work for some time now to use it up. With all that spare time on my hands, decided now was the time to get the Dodge done. Problem is I didn’t plan on this outlay of cash this soon, nd right now I have other uses for the money.
