1968 Ford Torino GT Fastback Cobra Jet

For your consideration is a super rare muscle car that happens to be a Torino. 1968 1/2 Ford Torino GT Fastback Cobra Jet, of 660, ack in 1968, oday? 1 of ??? remaining. She is was delivered to the famous west coast "Galpin Ford Dealer", pecial ordered by the owner as a showroom floor center piece. This was the only 1968 1/2 Torino GT Fastback Cobra Jet inspired model to be ordered and sold at Galpin Ford, rder type (see Marti Report) was "Basic Off-Standard Equipment" MartiAuto-worksdescribes this as...."It means Ford ordered and built this car without someone having pre-ordering it" that is the (basic part), ut they (Galpin Ford) put options on that were not very common (that'sthe Off-Standard Part), uch as 428CJ, .91 Traction-Lok Axle Ratio).
The Torino has all of itsoriginal paperwork, nd when I say all of it, mean all of it, ou name it she has it including copies of canceled checks for deposit purposes, emporary owners card as well as thedealer mailed owners card sent to the buyer, riginal window sticker, ealer IOU, ealer Security agreement, riginal owners manual and pocket protector, hevron battery warranty, ill of sale, alpin service centerquestionnaire, riginaldealerinvoice & Build sheet and Sears battery warranty as well, know I am leaving some items out. She still has the original mufflers put on at the factory...let me say that again, he original mufflers are still on the car! Factory markings all over the car, nder the hood, earpumpkinmarkings, nderside still has factory red oxide slightly faded.
She is a multiple magazine car, n the last 2 years she has appeared in "Modified Mustang's & Fast Fords" (October 2013), Muscle Car Review" (January 2014) & "Hemming's Muscle Machines" (May 2014). Hemming's Muscle Machines magazine nominated the Torino as a finalist for Muscle Car Of the year for 2014, nly 12 cars received thatprestigious nod last year.Hemming's stated that this Torino is a "Triple Digit Rare car" all day. No Torino has ever crossed any auction block before, have gone back as far as the auctions have kept records and nothing has ever crossed the block. I have turned down Mecum & Barrett Jackson several times, ust was not interested in going that route.
SHERIFF RALPH LAMB.The Torino has a very special tie in with the famous and recentlydeceasedLas Vegas Sheriff, alph Lamb who CBS had a show about for several years with Michael Chiklis and Dennis Quaid. I met the Sheriff a few years back after tellign him about the car. On April 18, 971 the original owner drove the Torino with some friends from California to Las Vegas for the weekend. One night the Torino owner came out of a casino and the Torino plates were stolen, he person that took the report was non other than SheriffRalphLamb. I have the original police report and envelope that was given to the original owner, retty amazing. Pawn Stars was very interested in the letter, ut wanted to keep it with the car. Ralph Lamb was singlehandily responsible for stopping the Mafia (Movie Casino) fromcompletelytaking over LasVegas.
3.91 REARWhen the original owner went to the dealer (Galpin Ford) his intentions were to purchase a Shelby, hen he got to thedealer, e saw the Torino on the showroom floor and decided to purchase the Torino instead.After only a few months with the car the owner headed back to the dealer and had Ford remove the factory 3.91 gears and put in more conventional better gas mileage 3.25 gears. The original factory gears are still in a Galpin dealer box and with the car. Crazy!
