Mercedes Benz 1970 Low Gtrill Coupe

This extremely rare low grill coupe has been a southern California car for 42 years. It was a European delivery then shipped back to the states in 1970. The 6 cylinder 70/71 low grill coupe were very limited in production. less than 600. as they were replaced by the 71 3. 5 coupe and convertible. My mechanic that specializes in the 111 warned me against the 3. 5 as parts especially fuel and engine are extremely difficult and expensive as that engine was unique to that year only. Many 70 coupes were chopped to make convertibles. rusted or destroyed. making an original 70 low grill one of the rarest and hardest to find 111 body cars. This coupe has never been undercoated or rusted. no panels replaced or noted body work. All door. trunk. and hood panels are perfect as are the gaps. Chrome is near perfect with no dents in grill. Glass is original with very slight delamination at corners. no cracks or chips. No dents in body panels or paint. The car is a 4 speed floor shift. roll up windows and no sunroof. Mechanically I changed the old a/c system to the newer Freon. with the original dealer installed Koulmeister(sp) under dash unit. Transistorized ignition system that looks original insures easy starts and eliminates frequent tune up with old points and timeing issues. Car drives very strong. no oil leakes or smoking. Original working radio. power antenna just went out. Front leather seats are new. factory leather. rear are original. good. but I would replace. Wood around base of windshield needs repair. Dash has no cracks. but has lost its gloss. Door panels have speaker covers loose. no speakers. need repair. Fresh air vents have 2 stuck levers. I have the levers. will include. Carpets are good. to bring them to #1 shape I would replace. One bolt holding rear bumper to bracket is stripped so slight rattle on bumper. Dash leather is perfect as is headliner. Radiator was repaired had small leak at neck cleaned and replaced. Slight damage not sure what at support under radiator on driver side was repaired very minor but mechanic noted. He was very pleased with car. I have moved from my large home of 30 years into a high rise condo. Classic car insurance will not insure. I have no garage. no place to play with or tinker with the car. and open to weather even though it is covered. Therefore the sale. If you are looking for a low grill coupe 6 cyl. you will never find a better unmolested example. I think you will find my description accurate. more pictures are available at request.
