WE ACQUIRED THIS VEHICLE FROM A CAR COLLECTION AND DO NOTKNOW A WHOLE LOTABOUT ITSHISTORY.WE WERE TOLD THAT THE CAR WAS IMPORTED TO USA IN 1983 WITH SOME RARE OPTIONS LIKE LEATHER SEATS, /C, OWER SUNROOF, ND POWER WINDOWS. ITIS EQUIPPED WITH THE ORIGINAL FUEL INJECTED 200HP, .5L, -8 ENGINE TYPE 116.982(NUMBERS 023 IN THE SERIAL NUMBER INDICATES A REAL 350 ENGINE). THE ZENDER BODY KIT AND RARE "RIAL" 7JX114 ALLOY WHEELS WERE INSTALLED IN GERMANY. THE CAR HAS A BEAUTIFUL PAINT AND BODY. IT WAS PAINTED A FEW YEARS AGO IN THE ORIGINAL COLOR OF TUNIS BEIGE METALLIC (CODE 462H). THE CAR LOOKS A LITTLE GREENISH IN THE PHOTOS DUE TO THE OVERCAST. THERE ARE NO BUBBLES IN THE PAINT. THE UNDER-CARRIAGE APPEARS TO BE SOLID AND HAS BEEN SPRAY WITH A RUST-PROHIBITIVE PAINT. THE PREVIOUS OWNER BOUGHT THISMERCEDES ON 12/05/1986 WITH 73,000 CERTIFIED MILES ( SEE COPY OF TITLE).THE ORIGINAL SPEEDOMETER IN KILOMETERS WAS CONVERTED TO A US ONE IN MILES AT THAT TIME. THE ORIGINAL OWNER IN GERMANY HAD CERTIFIED THE MILES IN A LETTER DATED AUGUST 23, 983 (IN GERMAN). PLEASE SEE THE COPY OF THE LETTER. THE PREVIOUS OWNER BOUGHT THIS CAR 29 YEARS AGO, AD IT GARAGEDAND ONLYDRIVEN IT TO CAR SHOWS AND SPECIAL FUNCTIONS LESS THAN 6,000 MILES. THIS CAR RUNS, RIVES, ND STOPS WELL. IT DOES NOT SMOKE OR LEAK ANY FLUIDS. WE WERE TOLD THAT THE REAR BRAKE CALIPERS, RAKE MASTER CYLINDER, ND ALL FLEX HOSES WERE REPLACED, ND THE THEBRAKE SYSTEM WAS FLUSHED OUTRECENTLY. THE BATTERY, XHAUST SYSTEMAND TIRES ARE ALMOST NEW. HOWEVER, INCETHE CARWAS PARKED FOR EXTENDED PERIODS OF TIME, E RECOMMEND A TUNE UP AND ALL FLUIDS TO BE CHANGED BEFORE DRIVING IT ON MAIN ROADS. WE HAVE THE ORIGINAL OWNERS MANUAL (IN GERMAN), IRST AID KITAND SOME OTHER DOCUMENTS ( SEE PHOTOS).

THE MERCEDES BENZ WEB SITE INDICATES THAT ONLY5,562 SLCs WERE MANUFACTURED IN 1972 AND ONLY A HANDFUL WITH THESE RARE OPTIONS. A TOTAL OF 13,925 SLCs WERE MANUFACTERED BETWEEN 1971 AND 1980, AKE THEM MORE RARE THAN THE CONVERTIBLE MODEL (SL SERIES) AND VERY FEW WERE IMPORTED TO USA.

THE BODY PANELS ARE RAZOR STRAIGHT AND HAVE GREAT SHUT LINES. THE PAINT IS BEAUTIFUL AND GLOSSY WITH A DEEP FINISH WITH ONLY A COUPLE OF TINY FLAWS THAT ARE HARDLY NOTICEABLE. THE DOORS OPEN AND CLOSE WITH EASE. THE FLOOR PANS AND TRUNK PAN APPEAR TO BE SOLID AND HAVE BEEN SPRAYED WITH RUST-PROHIBITIVE PAINT. ALL CHROME AND MISC. TRIM ARE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. THE FRONT BUMPER RUBBER FILLER ON THE RIGHT SIDE HAS SOME SMALL CRACKS. ALL LIGHT LENSES ARE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. ALL GLASS ARE ORIGINAL AND IN GOOD CONDITION EXCEPT THE WINDSHIELD THAT HAS SOME DELAMINATION ON THE UPPER RIGHT CORNER AND A VERY SMALL CRACK ON THE LOWER LEFT CORNER. WE WANTED TO KEEP THE WINDSHIELD ORIGINAL AND THAT IS WHY WE DID NOT REPLACE IT. YOU CAN SAFELY DRIVE THIS CAR WITH THE CURRENT WINDSHIELD OR REPLACE IT. IT IS VERY INEXPENSIVE. THE RARE 7JX114 "RIAL" ALLOY WHEELS ARE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION WITH A FEW SMALL CURB RASH ON THE PERIMETER. THESE VINTAGE WHEELS ARE VERY HAD TO FIND. ONE OF THE CENTER CAPS ARE MISSING. THE CAR RIDES VERY SMOOTH ON A SET OF ALMOST NEW GOODYEAR 205/70R14.

INTERIOR:

THE ORIGINAL BAMBOO COLOR LEATHER SEATS ON THE FRONT AND REAR ARE VERY SOFT AND IN GOOD ORIGINAL CONDITION. THE DRIVER'S SEAT BOTTOM CUSHION HAS SOME MINOR WEAR AND THE BACK SECTION (THE LOWER PART WHERE THE DRIVER GETS IN AND OUT) HAS SOME WEAR AND NEEDS REPAIR. THE ORIGINAL DOOR PANELS, EADLINER, EAR PACKAGE TRAY, ENTER CONSOLE, TEERING WHEEL, ND INSTRUMENT CLUSTER ARE ALL IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. THE ORIGINAL BROWN CARPETS ARE IN VERY NICE CONDITION WITH SOME MINOR WEAR ON THE DRIVER'S FLOOR. THE CARPETS ARE PROTECTED BY A SET OF CUSTOM TAN FLOOR MATS.

MECHANICAL:

THE ENGINE STARTS RIGHT UP EVERY TIME. IT SOUNDS GOOD, DLES GREAT, UNS COOL, AS GREAT OIL PRESSURE, ND DOES NOT SMOKE. HOWEVER, INCE THE CAR WAS PARKED OFF AND ON FOR EXTENDED AMOUNTS OF TIME. WE RECOMMEND ALL FLUIDS (EXCEPT BRAKE SYSTEM) TO BE CHANGED AND A TUNE UP PERFORMED BEFORE DRIVING THIS CAR ON MAIN ROADS. THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SHIFTS WELL. WE WERE TOLD THE REAR BRAKE CALIPERS, RAKE MASTER CYLINDER, ND ALL FLEX HOSES WERE RECENTLY REPLACED AND THE SYSTEM FLUSHED AND BLED. THE CAR STOPS GREAT. THE BATTERY, XHAUST SYSTEM, ND GOOD YEAR TIRES ARE ALMOST LIKE NEW. WE HAVE DRIVEN THIS CAR ONLY ABOUT 2 MILES AND NOTICED THAT THE CAR HAS A SMALL RATTLE ON THE FRONT WHEN GOING OVER A BUMP. WE RECOMMEND THE SUB-FRAME BUSHINGS OR PERHAPS TIE RODS TO BE REPLACED.

ELECTRICAL:

ALL LIGHTS, URN SIGNALS,AND HORN WORK. GAUGES WORK PROPERLY EXCEPT THE FUEL GAUGE. THE NEEDLE IS PEGGED UP SHOWING FULL INDICATION OF A BAD FUEL SENDING UNIT OR A BAD GAUGE. THE CLOCK IS INOP.THE A/C COMES ON, HE FAN BLOWS COOL IN ALL SPEEDS BUT NOT COLD. PERHAPS THE SYSTEM NEEDS TO BE VACUUMED AND RECHARGED. THE POWER SUNROOF AND WINDOWS WORK WELL. THE ORIGINAL BECKER RADIO IS GONE AND REPLACED WITH SOME 80'S RADIO.THE SPEEDOMETER AND ODOMETER WORK PROPERLY.

ENGINE COMPARTMENT:

THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT LOOKS CLEAN AND ORIGINAL BUT NOT DETAILED. ALL PROPER SERIAL NUMBERS AND STAMPINGS ARE VISIBLE ON THE FRONT CROSS-MEMBER, RIVER'S DOOR JAMB, ND LEFT SIDE OF THE DASH (SEE PHOTOS).

TRUNK:

THE TRUNK LOOKS CLEAN AND ORIGINAL BUT NOT DETAILED. IT STILL RETAINS THE ORIGINAL RUBBER TRUNK MAT. THESE MATS USUALLY GET VERY DRY AND BREAK IN PIECES. THE TRUNK HOUSES THE ORIGINAL TOOLS, ACK, ND SPARE TIRE.
