Description

Current owner is an active member of the 190sl International Group. Article on this car appeared in the March 2016 issue.
This 190sl was delivered to its first owner in 1961 in Northern NJ, span>Mercedes, order #17140406. He drove it about 60,000 miles before he did a complete offsite restoration. The car was disassembled, he body was sent to a shop in Michigan for a full frame and body panel restoration. The engine and transmission were rebuilt by a leading NJ Mercedes specialist, new high end tan top was fitted, ll instruments were rebuilt, new tan leather interior was fitted, nd the car was painted a beautiful fire-engine red (DB534). (I have all receipts which go with the car).
The second owner, car collector in Northern NJ, bought the car with about 61000 miles, tored the car in a heated garage and drove it to car shows and the country club and put approximately 2000-2500 miles on the car. It was driven continuously, ut sparingly.
I bought the car in 2013 from the car collector. The car went through a nine month refresh. This included brake system overhaul with new parts, uel system overhaul, ncluding newly rebuilt original Solex carburators, uel pump, as tank. New radial tires, ith the same size as original, ere added. A new gel battery with original tar top look and original battery label was put in the car. The car was tuned. The paint was polished to bring up the beautiful look. The underside of the car was painted to match the correct 'Mercedes flat gray' (DB169) with which it left the factory. A new windshield was fitted. See the pictures.
Everything works, nd the car needs nothing but a new owner who will love it's beautiful lines and excellent performance. The original radio, riginal windup clock, ush button windshield washer, nd all other electrics work perfectly.
The car comes with original Mercedes factory jack and toolkit, riginal owners manual and owners parts book. It also has the original key set with the Mercedes key fob and a spare set of keys.
All receipts from the earlier restoration are in a binder and are included in the sale. In addition, ll receipts from the 2013-2104 refresh are in a binder and are included.
The car needs nothing, as no rust, s kept in a garage and has no known flaws. It starts up instantly, t runs great, nd everyone waves, t is gorgeous. The current owner is an active member of the International 190sl Club, nd has put love and attention into making this 190sl the best it can be.
