Description

Why do you go to a car show? In most cases. it's to see a car like this. This rolling jewel case. on the surface. is a 1950 Oldsmobile Club Coupe--the deluxe version. if you're wondering. Beyond that title. it's all custom. with an Art Morrison GT Sport chassis at the core. This car is offered with no reserve price--it's been driven about 500 miles. The chassis is constructed of 2x4 (painted) steel tubing. specifically constructed to support the stress created by enthusiastic driving and the insane motivation of the 572-inch. 750 horsepower big block. The engine is a 572 GM crate unit (620 horsepower model) fed by a Hilborn 8-stack injection; this is managed by a F. A. S. T. control unit that helps the stack to flow at about 3200 CFM. It will pull your shirt off if you stand too close. The exhaust system starts with custom-built headers that feed into a 3-inch Jet-Hot coated system with Spintech mufflers. The motivation is cooled by a Ron Davis aluminum radiator with dual electric fans. Fuel is stored in a custom stainless steel baffled tank with a sump over the rear axle--it holds 25 gallons of your favorite kind of race mix. The filler is in the trunk. Because you like to drive your hotrod. this Olds comes with a manual tranny: It's a Tremec TKO 600 5-speed with a hydraulic clutch. custom built by Keisler Engineering. Suspension duties are handled by a four-link in the rear and a tubular independent setup in the front; it is suspended and dampened with adjustable Strange coilovers. Turning things is an AGR power rack and pinion setup connected to Wilwood Pro spindles. The rear axle housing (9-inch Ford housing) contains a Strange S-series center section (3:55 gears) with 31-spline stainless axles. The car stops with Wilwood big brakes: 13-inch rotors in front and 12-inchers in back--both are slotted and drilled. Front calipers are six-piston Wilwoods; rears are 4-piston Wilwoods with internal parking brakes. Rolling stock consists of custom HRE rims: 19x12. 5 in rear and 19x10. 5 in front. Rims are wrapped with Michelin Pilot Sports: 345/30 in the rear and 275/35 in front. You will win here. Trust me. Okay. so you know this thing hauls booty in a deadly manner. That's only the main course. Let's see what gets you there. The paint is a three-stage PPG Hot Hues variety of Rothchild Crimson sprayed over Daytona Blue. then clearcoated. It's so pretty that you'll feel a bit special when you get caught staring for too long. There's a Vintage Air air conditioning system (hoses are concealed in engine bay) for when you just want to sit in the car with the windows up and not answer the questions of people at the car show. They ask a lot of questions. There's a RacePak UltraDash for when you want to know when your next speeding ticket will arrive; it's not vintage. but it's awesome. When you just don't have time to look at numbers. there's an MSD shift light. Here's some body detail for the overly pedantic: C6 Corvette mirrors with custom bases; 2. 5 inch pancaked nose hood; front fender wheel openings increased by one inch; rears are also bulged for massive tire clearance; front inner fenders are louvered; all chrome has been re-plated. and all stainless repolished; dash is of course custom; Bearclaw electric door latches; blue dot tail lights with glass lenses; all glass is OEM green tinted; there's a Steele rubber kit; there are two layers of sound deadening. in case the sound of 750 horsepower gets on your nerves. Some body electrical highlights include a Newport Engineering wiper motor. Ron Francis wiring with a Painless module. and an Optima battery in the trunk with a remote shutoff. When you've cleaned up the drool from reading the list above. you need to check out the interior: It's custom leather with a suede headliner and trunklid sheath. Your shoeless feet will bask in the comfort of Mercedes wool carpet. There's a custom back seat with a concealed 12-inch woofer. a custom console for you to hide the unspeakables. a fully upholstered trunk. a Flaming River tilt steering column. a bit more leather around the wheel. nbsp;and electric BMW seats with heaters. because cold cheeks. The windows go up and down with the touch of a button; the door locks are also electric. as is the trunk lock. There's a key fob to hit these things. just like for your Porsche. There's interior and convenience lighting. and a Kenwood stereo. along with SatNav. XM radio. and all kinds of speakers; this is because not everybody wants to hear the beautiful song of 750 horsepower. Okay. Stop drooling. Look at the pictures and know that they do not remotely show how completely awesome this Olds is. This 1950 Oldsmobile will be sold in as-is condition.
