I. ’s all enthused about sports cars after they came back from Europe after discovering the European 2-seater sports cars. Also when they came back car dealers on the east coast. especially New York City. started importing the English manufactured sports cars. Jaguar was the first company to come up with an extremely beautiful post-war design followed very closely by Austin Healey. The basic lines of the post-war Austin Healey carried over into the 1959 Austin Healey when the four cylinder engine was replaced by the six cylinder engine to give the sports car enthusiasts the best of both worlds. For those collectors that have been fortunate enough to drive both of the two most beautiful post-war English sports cars. the Jaguar and the Austin Healey. all agree that when it comes to handling. the Austin Healey outclasses the Jaguar XK-120 by a long shot. The six cylinder Austin Healeys have been extremely popular for several decades with collectors. Finding one that is highly sorted out and in the right color scheme is every collector’s dream. The car that you see before you is from a car collector that basically specializes in English collector cars. He is reluctantly giving up this car for some personal reasons. As you can see in this video the seller loves to sport around in this car as it is nimble and very fast. an absolute pleasure to drive. The current owner has said that the car has been driven only 2. 00 miles since its restoration. It is a highly sorted out car and ready for the local shows or touring. This 1959 Austin Healey 100-6. Model BN-4. underwent a full frame off restoration that was completed in June 2000. The car was restored with 64. 00 miles on the odometer. Even though it is not a fresh restoration the car still looks and handles great! The car was upgraded with a “29K” 3000 engine in the early 1960s. This is the engine used in the BJ8 series Austin Healey and produces 150 BHP with 2912 cc. vs. the original 117 BHP with 2639 cc that originally was in the car. Fabulous color scheme of Healey Blue Metallic with Ivory (Old English) and the car had a complete strip and paint of body/frame. Complete new interior with leather seats. seat belts. Tonneau cover and convertible top minus side curtains. (Check out the photos you can see the convertible top still looks new). At the time of restoration the additional NEW parts were installed: 60 spoke chrome wheels Electrical wiring harness Oil/Brake/Air Hoses Stainless exhaust system Floor in boot Boot lid (steel). Shock absorbers Radiator flex fan Fuel pump All wheel hubs and brake booster servo. Further work done during restoration: Suspension disassembled and rebuilt Gas tank inspected and resealed Steering box disassembled and rebuilt Clutch disassembled and rebuilt Clutch slave cylinder disassembled and rebuilt Electrical system converted to negative ground Engine removed/inspected/resealed. Transmission removed/inspected/resealed Conversion to disc Gauges are working. The Austin Healey is truly one of the great. fun sports cars of this era. The beauty of this car is that it is a fantastic piece of sculpture and handles like a racecar of its time and the values seem to be escalating on a very steady and consistent basis.
