The elderly collector who owns this 1941 PACKARD SUPER 8 MODEL 160 has owned it for ten years. Seller has enjoyed driving the Packard and says that it always starts and runs very nice. Over the years the 1941 Packard Super 8 has been taken on many tours and was always a delight to drive and it has won many awards and trophies at the shows where it has been shown. Seller says it causes a stir with the crowd wherever it goes. The seller says that the Packard Blue paint has ten coats of lacquer on it and usually he only needs to dust it and the dirt falls right off. The seller has provided us the additional details. It is a numbers matching car. This model Packard was known as the original ‘hotrod’ 356 straight eight in 1941 and this engine replaced V12. In some publications it has been touted as the most powerful engine in the USA (maybe the world) at that time. 3-speed transmission with low and high overdrive. The car was restored over ten years ago and still looks striking. The 56. 00 miles are supported by documentation from previous owner. The underside has had nothing done to it. Seller has stated that if he were to keep the car he would probably have the front end redone and also he would have the transmission synchronizer worked on as it tends to shift slow. He did make note that the Packard transmissions are known for their durability and the car runs fine on tour. The low and high overdrive work great. The clutch works great. The brakes are fantastic and stop great. The seller installed an Optima battery and the car always starts. In addition the car has a remote cut off switch. The seller was told that the previous owner had the engine was completely rebuilt and runs great! The Packard Blue paint is outstanding for a restoration of this age. The car does have some chips. which are greatly magnified in the photos for bidder’s reference. All of the chrome looks beautiful. 6 white wall tires. First year for under seat heater. The seller does have a new defroster that is not installed on the car. All of the instruments work. The radio was upgraded. The original clock is there but not working. New radiator runs cool. No rust visible (note: see many great detail photos of the underside in the video). Faux-wood on the dash restored. All paperwork will go with the car including the original owner’s manual. Seat belts that are attached to the frame were installed at a cost of $1. 00. 00. New Cormorant hood ornament. Original jack in the bag. Please note. this car has been owned by the current owner for ten years and has a clear title in his name. The vehicle number on the title is the number on the engine. Due to lifestyle changes the elderly gentleman is offering the car to a new owner. The caretaker who has been taking care of the car for the seller commented that the car is very drivable ‘as is’ and that the low and high overdrive works really good.
