Description

1957 Austin Healey 100/6I'm listing my 57 Austin Healey 100/6 BN4 for auction. The car is a very solid older restoration. that is a good driver quality car. It has some desirable options including the factory hard-top. soft top. wire wheels (including spare). rear boot luggage rack. and 4-speed overdrive gearbox. and aluminum front end. The car is a rare two tone yellow and black which has come into its own these days. My father and I bought this car about 15 years ago from a collector who had the car semi-restored but didn't drive it much. It needed the usual repairs that a car that isn't used often would need. and some upgrades that we wanted to do; so here's what we did around 2006. Rebuilt brakesNew relined brake shoes (Metal Frictions Seattle)Rebuilt and restored wire wheelsNew "knock off" spinnersNew tiresNew factory exhaust system from manifold back. New front seat framesNew seat foam setNew front and rear seat coversRebuilt distributor New correct wires. cap. ignition parts etc. Rebuild carburetors Valve adjustmentFull tune and suspension inspectionReplaced suspension parts etc. From there my father drove the car sparingly in good weather for about 1. 00 miles. The car runs and drives very well. it has some minor oil leaks (it's Brittish FGS) and other things that need to be cleaned up. The paint is older lacquer that is cracking and peeling in some spots. it could use a new paint job. or enjoy as is. the chrome is good but original. etc. The car isn't a rusty car. it has one small rust spot on the passengers floor that is an easy patch repair. We bought this car because it had "good bones" and was a good looking driver quality car. I don't really enjoy driving show cars. one ding or stone in the paint and it's over. so. I choose cars I can enjoy. look reasonable from 10 feet and drive well. this is that car. All lights. gauges. turn signals. etc. function as they should. even the horn! There are a few issues the have happened in my ownership. A rat (now deceased) chewed some small holes in the brand new interior. The interior has less than 30 hours seat time. but now has a few small flaws. which can be corrected with a vinyl repair kit that I have. Also included are a few new parts:New tonneau cover New tonneau fastenersNew heat shield kitKnock off wrenchManuals/books/tools misc etc. I had the car looked over and the mechanical restoration work done by British European in Seattle. The car runs and drives well. but I noticed the drivers side front brake seems to be "dragging" a little. The brakes work well. but the system hydraulic system should be inspected. Also. the overdrive stopped working while parked. Possible solenoid or wiring? The car has a clear Washington State title in my name. Inspections are encouraged and welcome. please call/phone me with questions Pacific time zone at 206-218-5453. Thanks for looking!
