The Willys Overland motor Company built cars from 1937-1942. There is not many of these cars left and that is why many like this one are glass cars. However when this car was built they used a correct steel dash as well as a 41 Grill and Headlight Trim. This is one of the nicest rods we have ever owned and would make a great addition to any home. In the paragraphs to follow we will give a brief description of the exterior. interior. and driveline of the Willys. but first we would like to tell you a little about us. Smoky Mountain Traders is a classic car dealer in east Tennessee. We are family owned. operated. and own our entire inventory. no consignments. and only deal in muscle cars and vintage auto. You can count on us to have 50 to 60 cars at all times. We don’t have a big show room that our customers would otherwise pay for. So. that’s how we can sell for less than other dealers. When you walk around it you will see the fit and finish of the panels are as good as any we have seen. All the gaps are good with the Hood. door. and trunk working as they should. The paint on this Willy is a slick Garnet Red Pearl that has a depp rich shine. You can tell that it was painted with the car apart and has had hours spent buffing and polishing to ensure a shine that you would expect on a car of this quality. It has new glass installed as well as the weather stripping. The bumpers look new as well as the chrome brackets that hold them on. The grill headlight trim as well as the tail lights look to be Willys. As you can see by the trim between the fenders and body this not a one piece body. They used the Willys exposed door hinges to give it the factory look along with the correct door handles. Next. we will take a look at the interior of the ’40. It’s all done in tan leather and provides a killer complement to the exterior scheme. All the window trim and dash is painted to match the outside and really flows the two together perfectly. When you look at the dash it’s a real dash from a 40 Willys. They added the aftermarket gauges and AC vents with controls. The steering column is tilt with a Billet Wheel. The door panels and headliner are custom as well as the bucket seats. The window cranks and door handles are also Billet to complete the look. Finally. we will take a look at the drive line of the Willys. Under the hood is a 350 V8 that is mated to a 350 Turbo Trans and 10 Bolt rear end. The engine is dressed with a lot of chrome. The exhaust is ran through a set of coated Shorty Headers and Dual Exhaust. The AC was fitted with a chrome compressor and all the lines were installe so to keep it neat. They added an electronic cooling fan to keep it cool on hot summer days. Under the front of this ride is has a Mustang II Front End with has Power Rack and Pinion Steering. The brakes are Power with Disc on the front. When you look under it you will see everything is neat and solid. We were told the frame was from a real 40 Willys and it looks good and solid. This is a great car that you don’t always see. It was built to drive and is a pleasure to be behind the wheel of on the open road.
