This is a terrific example of the 1977 Targa, nd very complete. An original California car, ll of its smog equipment is intact and operational. I just recently brought it back to the Bay Area after it had lived in Oregon for a few years, nd it traveled the 650 miles from Portland in extreme heat with no issues. There is absolutely NO RUST anywhere on this car, nd the pans are flat with no ripples, aves or dents. There is no evidence that suggests the car has ever been in an accident. I have fairly comprehensive records back to 1985.
The engine runs great, nd starts within 3 seconds every time, ot or cold. It was rebuilt at 40,000 miles and boasts a Perma-Tune ignition. The 5 speed transmission shifts smoothly without any grinding or slop. There are no issues that I could identify. The Air Conditioning was retrofit with the Griffith Technical kit to accommodate modern R134a refrigerant and blows cold. The power windows and mirror work properly. The Targa top fits snugly. It has some minor tears that aren’t particularly obvious. The targa seals appear to have been replaced recently, nd the windows fit snugly to both the jambs and the top. Everything that should work appears to work. A modern 4 speaker AM-FM-CD player was installed. Unlike many cars of this era, he steering wheel is original.
The saddle interior looks very nice. The seats have no rips or tears and very little wear. The dash is near perfect, o issues whatsoever. The carpets could use a shampoo, ut are otherwise intact, ith no tears or heavy wear spots. The 3 point seat belts are clean. The front trunk carpet is virginal, nd there are no issues to be found here. The car was color changed from yellow to red.. It looks like someone dropped the hood against the body during fitment, esulting in small gouges at either side. The body otherwise is quite straight, ith small chips here and there that are apparent only if looked for. There is a small chip in the windshield. This is a very nice car that should provide years of relatively trouble free driving.
Winning bidder must submit a $500 non-refundable deposit via PayPal within 48 hours of end of auction. Balance must be paid within 1 week of close of auction or deposit will be forfeited.
