Exterior Color: Red Interior Color: Red. Engine: 2cyl Transmission: 4spd Mileage: 3,000. VIN: 0297172 The Goggomobil Coupe itself is very rare and this is one only few built for the US market as it is the TS400 with the larger 392cc 20hp motor with optional Electromagnetic transmission. This may be one of the nicest Goggomobils in the world as it is fully, round up restored to show quality condition. This car is so nice, t was invited to a Concours D’Elegance at the Glenmoor Gathering of Significant Automobiles in September of 2012. The car comes with the invitation letter and event ribbon from the Executive Director personally inviting this very car. That just shows the quality of the amazing little car. This is truly a once in a life time find!!! This micro car was one of three models produced on this platform by Glas in the Bavarian town of Dingolfing after World War II. The engine is a two-stroke, wo-cylinder, ir-cooled unit that displaces 392-cc and produces 20 horsepower. This is connected to an optional Electromagnetic transmission with a four-speed, everse and a manual clutch. The top speed of the Goggomobil is 65-mph. This red and white example has a spectacular restoration and fun to drive.
From 1955 to 1969, he Goggomobil was manufactured by the GLAS Werke in the town of Dingolfing, n Bavaria. Ironically, uring the late 1950s Bavarian authorities begged Hans Glas, he factory's owner, o take over near-bankrupt BMW; within a few years, he tables had turned and BMW bought GLAS in 1966--the last batches of Goggomobils actually were titled as BMWs!These a often called the "Bentley of Microcars" because of its superior build quality, he diminutive Goggomobil still has a legion of faithful followers. Cult objects from Germany's postwar Wirtschaftswunder ("Economic Miracle") years, ll Goggos are very collectible today. However, he early "suicide door" Coupés are among the most sought-after examples. Only a handful of suicide-door Goggos reside in the United States. In 2005, he Big Five-O, he 50th anniversary of the start of Goggomobil production, as celebrated with an elaborate birthday bash in Dingolfing, t the original factory, hich today produces the BMW-designed Rolls Royce Phantom ultra-luxury car. Marketing people once claimed the original Mini to be larger on the inside than on the outside. Not true. True is, owever, hat a 6'6" driver and passenger will feel comfortable in the Goggomobil Coupé. Up front, here the Mini has its engine, he Goggomobil has nothing but leg room! All that space is stylishly clothed by fashionable coachwork that must have struck German observers of the mid-1950s as positively futuristic. Check out that panoramic wrap-around rear window and those taillights doing double duty as small tail fins! This being the only microcar that's so attractive, t could pass for a coachbuilt Ferrari Coupé, he Goggomobil has been called the Blue Mauritius of small cars. Values for prime examples, uch as this one, ave been going through the roof, ith another Goggo selling for $88,000.00 at two year's ago Pebble Beach auction.A Goggomobil Coupé is the ideal collector car. Its reliability, mmense popularity at car shows, rugality, nd practical size make ownership very rewarding. Driving the Coupé is extremely gratifying. In 1957, he friendly blonde lady drove her Goggo from Hamburg to Hong Kong and others took Goggos around the World. All and all, his is one very rare and very unique car! With Great looks and huge collectability this would be a wonderful opportunity for someone to not only have a part of history but an appreciating Asset!!
