Description

1962 Studebaker Gran Turismo Hawk + Lots of Parts!- No Reserve

This 1962 Studebaker Gran Turismo Hawk belonged to a great guy that loved Studebakers. Unfortunately, e passed away recently and his wife has asked me to sell the car for her. Please note that included with the sale of this Hawk, s a ton of extra parts that he had collected over the years. The parts alone are worth a few thousand dollars. This Hawk has the 259 cu. in., 80 hp 2 bbl. engine with the Flight-O-Matic automatic transmission. It is a numbers matching drive train showing 72,886 original miles on the odometer.

MECHANICAL - The only mechanical issue with this car is that the ignition switch is bad and needs to be replaced. A mechanic did a poor job in removing it from the instrument panel (see pictures). The car did run and drive beautifully, efore the owner became ill a few years ago. The motor is not seized. Beside the ignition switch, ’m sure it will need a new front wiring harness as well. Obviously, complete tune up with all fluids gone through and changed.

EXTERIOR - The body has been repainted several years ago in its original Ermine White. There are some small areas of bubbling and body work performed. I went over the car with a magnet and it's 90% metal. There’s only a few areas where I see Bondo has been applied. To bring this car up to the next level, t would definitely need a repaint. The chrome, lass and trim are all in a good driver condition. The bumpers could use a good polishing to restore back to driver quality. The trim is good with only a few pieces showing signs of slight pitting. The glass is good with no cracking or separation. The tires are in good condition with no dry rotting or cracking.

INTERIOR - The front and rear seats of this car are like new. The carpet is not worn or torn, ut has some sun fading on the door panels and floor humps and should be replaced. The instrument panel is all intact except for the ignition switch which has been removed from the panel. The headliner is in great condition with no sagging or tears. The instrument cluster just needs a good cleaning and the bright work gone over with some 4/0 steel wool.

UNDERCARRIAGE - The undercarriage is clean with no rust through on any of the floor pans. The frame is solid with just your normal surface present. There is some rustaround the rocker areas. The front & rear suspension is all intact. I didn’t see any noticeable leaks from the engine or transmission from where it was sitting.

PARTS – Like I mentioned earlier, he parts alone are worth a lot if I were to piece them out. There’s everything from A to Z. There are gauges, witches, oltage regulators, ans, nterior pieces, hrouds, rills, adiators, umpers, efroster motors, tarters, nstrument panels, oors, eat frames, lass, rim and so much more!! Take a look at the pictures for the details of what is included.

SUMMARY – This Hawk would make a nice driver or a great restoration project. It has good bones as they say. It wouldn’t take much to bring this car back to a very nice driver quality where it would do well at the local car shows and cruise in’s. This car is selling at NO RESERVE so please, f you bid, lan on buying the car! If you have any questions, lease call me anytime. I was corrected on the engine size. It is the original 289 cu. in., 10 h.p. engine. I am not a Studebaker expert and was misinformed. Thank you for correcting me on that......Ken
