Description

Thanks for looking at this 1974 International Scout II. We picked it up in Colorado a couple of years ago, rove it home to Texas with no issues upon closing the sale. Previous owner replaced some of the wiring and added points-elimination kit. Once home, did some work to it, owed it behind our motorhome for a trip around the western half of the U.S., nd now it's for sale before we begin another trip on the eastern side of the U.S. Reason for selling? I'd like to buy and restore more Scouts. Already have a few on my radar
Details:
345 V-8, uns smooth and starts every time. 2-barrel carb (either original or o.e.-style replacement)
T-18 manual 4-speed transmission
4x4, anual locking hubs (4-wheel drive works great, n High and Low)
Removable Hard Top (plus Roll-Bar with Bikini Top and hinged plywood deck lid.)
Original seats front & back (recovered to match factory grain)
Factory weatherproof coating on the chassis/undercarriage
What I've replaced/added since 2014:
Water Pump
Master Brake Cylinder and Power Brake unit
Weatherstripping (doors, ailgate)
Spare tire on Cragar rim (0 miles on rim & tire)
Horn Relay (it has 2 cheap horns on it that probably need to be replaced)
Matching lock cylinders so ignition, oors and liftgate all use the same key.
Body mounts & hardware (including 1" block lift)
Cab mount wedges + floor pans at forward cab locations
Bushings in leaf springs
Front U-Bolts (axle shimmed so it can be towed easily with all 4-wheels down)
Throw-Out Bearing
Bell Crank bushings
Steering coupler (rag joint)
SkyJacker shocks
Valve Cover and Oil Pan gaskets
Pioneer CD Player with 4 speakers installed
Seat upholstery to match factory vinyl
Self-made roll bar (beefier than the "beauty bar")
Black Bikini Top (needs a corner button snap replaced, ut can be used as is)
Paint: Ford Caribbean Turquoise and Chevy Ermine White
Interior flooring is coated with bed-liner
Exterior flooring (underneath) is coated with rubberized spray
Tow-Bar, o it can be towed with all four wheels down (must have transmission & transfer case in neutral)
The Bad:
This Scout has patch panels and body filler. Some areas (as depicted) could use attention as rust damage is evident (though rust has been treated).
Lift-gate T-handle broke recently, o it will need a new handle. The lock cylinder can be swapped so you still will only need 1 key.
Needs window channel for rear sliding windows.
This was my first paint job, o I'd rank it 6.5 out of 10 (10 being a $15k show job, being mismatched colors, issing paint, eeled clear coat and orange peel.)
The kick panels need to be finished out. I welded in patch panels but filler and paint is needed.
No rear seat belts.
Fan shroud is missing.
Heater fan blows only at 1 speed, o it may need a new switch or relay, r fan motor.
Windshield washer pump comes on if you hook up a jumper wire to it, ut not by using the interior switch, o there is a wiring disconnect.
The turn indicator doesn't return automatically on one side, ut I have a new signal cam in the package for install.
Speedometer/Odometer doesn't work. Probably needs a new cable. That said, he mileage listed is inaccurate because it has been stuck there since I purchased this truck.
The Scout puffs out blue smoke when you first start it after it's been sitting overnight (forums say oil pools in the rear passenger corner of engine?) but runs great nonetheless.
The Good:
A lot of work has already been done! Everything liquid was changed in March 2015, ith about 5k miles on them since then. This Scout runs cool at an average 180-degrees. The radiator has apparently been serviced. Tires have at least 60% tread-life. All glass is good; no cracks. All lights work and the vehicle has good tags until September. I will remove company logos upon sale. I also have new exhaust gaskets in the package for install. I would trust this vehicle to take you across the country and be a daily driver (it'll get you about 15mpg on the highway).
