Sadly, 'm having to depart with this beauty. Here's what I know: It's a beautiful and as close to factory original as it gets. This is known as the "Sprint 200" edition- it includes factory A/C- it works but could use a recharging. Only a small number of this series were built. This is a base 200ci 6 cylinder engine- a cruising car, ot a muscle car.
I'm the 3rd owner. The previous owner had it for 9 years and maintained it perfectly. Prior to that, t was restored (to factory appearance) from a dealer in Iowa, believe. Cowl area was replaced and no leaking for the past 9 plus years. Recent work completed by a local classic car mechanic:
-rebuilt carburetor
-new u-joints
-valve cover gasket
-new rear differential cover/seal
-left rear axle shaft seal
-new tranny gasket
-new oil pressure sensor
-new disc brakes in the front
What needs to happen: For this age of car, t's about 99% rust free. However, his car is no different than other mustangs this age. First, here are two areas on both doors that have "cancer spots". I've been told by a local ford dealer that this is not a problem- easily fixable and not that costly. Second, here is a hole in the passenger floor board- also not uncommon. Car comes with new floor pans for both sides; they need to be welded in. The tranny pan appears to have a small leak despite the new gasket- more than likely the dip stick. There are 6 months left on the parts and labor so that will be addressed. The oil pan leaks the smallest amount of oil. I've been told 50 year old cars will do this. The oil pan can be replaced but it's not been that big of an issue; both transmission fluid and oil levels have not suffered. I have not had to add to either reservoir. The driver door handle/button is not working. I have the parts for it and that too will be addressed. These repairs have not been addressed because of the recent cold weather/winter; I didn't drive the car around in those conditions.
I don't need any help selling this and I don't need to hear how over-priced you think the car is. I know from reputable suggestions, his car is priced right. It's not to say that I won't listen to offers. Serious inquiries only.
