I have had the pleasure of owning and building this beautiful Avalanche over the last 4.5 years. It is truly one of a kind! The truck is a 2002 Chevy avalanche 2500. It has an 8.1 Vortec engine. With 78,000 original miles and 4l80e transmission. It rides and drives amazing. Anyone who has ever ridden in my truck is floored with the way it handles and rides for such a large truck. It has 40" Goodyear mt/r tires mounted on 17" black pro comp aluminum wheels.
SUSPENSION: the truck has a solid axle swap using a 79 ford dana 60. It is a high pinion, ing pin axle. It has 5.13 gears and was completely gone through and every seal and bushing replaced when I did the swap about 12k miles ago. The solid axle swap self was made by off road direct. It utilizes the leaf springs out of a 99 to 2002 super duty. These particular springs are 8" lift skyjackers. (The ride and comfort provided by these springs is awesome) Coupled with the o.r.d. Brackets, he front has 13" of lift. The front has four rancho 9000 XL shocks. Cross over steering and pan hard bar were added during the swap as well. New stainless steel brake lines as well.
The rear is the stock corporate 14 bolt axle with g80 locker and 5.13 gears. The shock mounts were moved up because the stock mounts hung well below the axle housing. The rear has a shackle flip kit made by off road design, n add a leaf and 5" block. Rear has bilstein shocks.
INTERIOR: within the last year and less than 2,000 miles I had the upholstery redone with new black leather seats from leatherseats.com including heated seats in the front. They are beautiful and the driver seat bottom foam was replaced at that time. There is weathertech floor mats in front and rear. All speakers were replaced with alpine s type. And 2 jl w1 subwoofers were added last summer under rear seat. Basic kenwood deck is in truck as well. Truck has factory power sunroof as well.
EXTERIOR: the paint on this truck is in very good shape! Wax is applied frequently and was professionally buffed recently as well. All of the cladding was professionally coated with Bedliner material this fall to protect and enhance the look and durability. The front bumper is custom made and pretty minimal like a desert Type bumper. Could be made back to stock if desired. There is also amp research power steps. They work great!
MECHANICAL: the solid axle swap called for a transfer case swap as well. I installed a Borg Warner bw4470 t case. And added a manual shift on the left side of the transmission hump. I had a custom double cardan front shaft made. A custom rear shaft and of course new u joints. The motor is sound, owerful and very dependable. The transmission works flawlessly, nd have never had a problem with it. I would say the only problem with the truck is possibly an injector problem. I usually have to cycle the key for a "hot start". And it can be a hard start if it's under 20 degrees. It has always been that way. I just cycle the key and it starts fine.
