Up for sale is my 1957 Thunderbird. This is a very rare car. The first picture (and a few at the end) in this adshowshow the car came from the factory (and how it shouldbe). Unfortunately someone painted it red at some point.
It is an original Gun Metal Gray car. It is also a very early car (December of 56). It has power windows, ower seat, ower brakes, own and country radio and is a D code ca, auto transmission with both hard and soft tops and Tourneau cover. No power steering. I never thought I would say this but I don't miss it on this car. It turns surprisingly easy. I wouldn't add it.
Entire drive train is orig to the car and has never been out of the car. The car runs and drives great. She starts right up and shifts perfectly.
The best part about this car is that it has lived its entire life on the West Coast between Utah and California. I purchased it from California. NO RUST! Solid frame and body panels.
I have recently gone through the entire car mechanically and she's sound. New shocks, ew battery, ngine service (oil, ilters, ires, lugs, otor etc..), ransmission service (cooling lines etc.), ew brake hoses and fluid, lushed the cooling system and replaced all hoses, uel system (lines, ew fuel pump, ilters), uspensionandLOTS of misc items to make her right. She really drives great. No smoke. No rattles or squeaks. Solid car.
The paint on the car is driver quality. Has a nice shine and the car is straight. It doeshave nicks and chips as well as fading and scratches here and there.I have touched it up the best I can and the car is very presentable. Its a nice driver. It turns heads everywhere. Body fit is typical for a 57. Not great. The plan was to paint it anyway and bring back to original. Too many red T Birds out there anyway. lol
Interior is really nice. No rips or tears. Very clean.Carpet is excellent. Door panels are excellent.Kick panels excellent. Knobs and switches are very good. Dash aluminum is very good. Dash is clean buthas been in the sun a little too much. Bright work is good. Chrome bumpers are good but if you paint the car you will probably want to re chrome.
Bottom half of bumpers are mint which tells methis car hasseen lots of sunshine. The seat is in good shape and its comfortable but the padding inside is very dry and crumbles. My guess is from sitting in a dry climate for many years. There are signs of sun fading on the dash as I saidand the trunk area. I'll take that over rust problems any day.
Everything works except the clock and the radio needs a speaker I think. It makes a high pitch sound when you turn on the radio. The rear right tail light bezel is cracked. Not the lens. The plastic trim around it. See the pics. Wire wheels are very good but not perfect. They are excellent for a driver though. Tires are very good.
The car has a brand new Hartz cloth soft top and the frame was restored as well with all new chrome latches. It folds up and down very easily. Hard top is in good shape. Same paint quality as car. Headliner is very good. No tears. Clean.
Overall a really nice driver that can be driven and enjoyed as is and one day give her the make over she deserves. Shes an investment grade car in my opinion and will only go up in value. Rare color, olidwest coast car and very nicely optioned.
I have a clear title for this vehicle.
