Description

This auction is for a 1966 replica Cobra with an all aluminum small block ford backed up with an AOD transmission. As you can see in the pictures this car is not painted. I built this car and wanted to get it on the road and get the bugs worked out first. Then I would pull the body. tear it down and paint. This car was originally set up as a standard but has an automatic in it now. I do have the pedal assembly and master cylinder for the clutch. Would just need to put it back in. The pedal assembly is part of a Wilwood triple master cylinder set up with bias bar for front and rear brakes. Front suspension is mustang II with polished stainless upper and lower control arms from Fat Man. QA1 coil overs. GM metric calipers. and standard rack and pinion. Rear suspension is a custom z-link set up with a Jacobs ladder instead of a panhard bar. and QA1 coil overs. (A z-link set up is basically like a 4 link only the upper bars go to the rear of the car). 8" ford rear end with limited slip carrier and Currie 28 spline axles. Mark 8 Lincoln disc brakes. Parking brakes are hooked up and work. Custom one off CNC brake handle. Frame is a 4" tube front to rear. Extremely rigid. You can place a jack just in front of the rear tire and lift the front tire off the ground as well. The body is a one pc fiberglass body. The passenger tub is glassed into the body permanently. The doors on this car have been glassed in as well. Getting in and out of this car is snap with the removable steering wheel. With no doors the dreaded cobra leg burns are non existent. I used two part dense closed cell foam to build the inner doors. The dash and center console were built in place and the inner doors. dash and center console were all covered with 3 layers of glass mat. Very simple design and strong. All of the wiring is accessed through a panel in the firewall behind the engine. The body has not been cut for the side louvers. Nor has it been cut for any bumpers or quick jacks. No roll bar holes either. All the lights. electric fan for the radiator and tranny cooler. and fuel pump are controlled by relays. When you turn the ignition on everything comes on. This car is equipped with a push button start/stop set up from Watson Street Works. It is also equipped with push button timed blinkers from Watson Street Works. There are three buttons on the dash. that's it. Car is equipped with Speedhut Revolution gauges. B&M ratchet shifter. Custom made steering column with removable steering wheel. Polished stainless steering u-joints. Traditional Cobra seats and windshield. I have the wind wings but never mounted them. Seats. windshield. lights and flip top gas cap are from Shell Valley. The trunk and hood hinges are traditional in design but I custom made these out of aluminum for a beefier look. I placed aluminum frames with threaded steel inserts into the hood and trunk frames before I laminated the trunk and hood on. No nut certs to loosen and wallow out the fiberglass on this car. I can send you build pics. Wheels are black on polished Boss 308 rims with 5 on 4. 5 pattern. 275/35-18 on the rear. 245/40-18 on the front. Radiator is an aluminum dual pass from Day Motorsports with a 14" electric fan and custom made shroud. Tranny cooler is a stacked plate cooler and is mounted under the car with its own fan. Fuel tank is a custom tank that sets in from the top. No ugly straps to be seen. Problem is. cant get the tank out without removing the body. Never have checked it exactly but according to the math the tank should be about 15 gallons. External Holley blue electric fuel pump with cleanable 10 micron filter log. The AOD transmission was freshly rebuilt with a brand new TCI valve body and new 2500 stall convertor. RDI aluminum block. . 135 overbore. JE pistons and roller cam bearings. 4 bolt main on all 5 caps. Brodix Neal 54cc heads with stainless valves and Jessel valve train topped off with Moroso lemans style valve covers equipped with spring sprayers. Roush B302 dry intake. 600 cfm vacuum secondary Demon. Full roller cam. lifter. and springs and double roller chain set from Comp Cams. I cannot find the cam card so I cannot give you specs. Roughly . 700 lift and 310 duration. Eagle steel crank and H beam rods. 347 stroke. ARP rod bolts. head studs. and main studs. (Internal balanced)Weaver Bros 5 stage dry sump pump. canton square 10qt tank. custom one of a kind billet aluminum skirt type pan with removable inspection plate. (3 scavs on the pan and one on the block for the valley) Jones Racing pulleys and crank arbor. Custom (built by yours truly) belt drive distributor. This set up is very unique as it is driven through the stock timing chain cover. There is a seal and never leaks a drop. MSD 6AL and crank trigger. Meziere electric water pump. The list goes on. Im sure I am forgetting stuff. so if you have any questions please feel free to call me or send me a message. Let me be very forward and honest with anyone interested in this car. It is loud. obnoxious and draws a crowd. thumbs up and nose ups by the do gooders every where I take it. This thing is a beast and will hurt you if you do not respect it. You will put it in neutral when your at a stop light or your braking foot will pay the price. You wont drive this car with any amount of moisture on the road. or you wont be on the road long. I have never had it dynoed as I really dont care what the numbers are. Please call me with any questions or email me. I want to be certain you know exactly what you are bidding on. If you have any questions feel free to contact me. Send me an email with your number and I will call you. Please do not bid unless you are serious. Ask me for more pictures. I will email any pictures you need. I uploaded a few pics of the hinges. hood props. and the frames inside the hood and trunk. I had a traditional hood prop and was hanging out at a cruise in one night. The wind caught the hood and unlatched the prop allowing the hood to slam down. I made new hood props that lock into the shroud. Problem solved. Thanks for looking and good luck.
