Description |
---|
I'm selling my 1985 BMW 524TD with 287,524 miles. This car has been my summer daily driver for work for the past 5 or so years. Stored in a barn during the winter. It is not in perfect condition but still gets 28mpg average city/highway.
Things that have been done to it:
3 series front seats with homemade brackets so the power adjust still works.
Bilstien HD shocks and struts all around. With upgraded front strut mounts.
MSW rims
K/N air filter.
Newer starter, motor mounts, vacuum hoses, steering fluid filter, coolant flush and coolant bottle. Stainless brake lines, with full fluid flush to synthetic brake fluid.
Timing belt changed about 5 years ago.
I have an oil filter and fuel filter to go with it too. I've been changing the oil every 5,000 miles with synthetic diesel oil.
Air works.
Not so good things:
There is surface rust in spots, roof/trunk. No rust through underneath though.
It was a California car but probably spent a lot of it's life in Illinois.
It appears it had a front end collision and repaired sometime in it's life before I got it.
There is a fuel leak when it is running. I haven't found it yet but it could be on the return side of the injection pump as it doesn't affect the running of the car. No air in the fuel lines.
Some electrical switches take a couple tries to work, could just need to be cleaned.
This could be a good parts car or a daily driver again. It is old and is showing it's age, so don't expect a showroom quality car. I suggest anyone interested to message me about seeing it in person and taking it for a test drive. I listed what I could but some stuff would be better seen in person. While I drove it daily, I also could fix things that went wrong. $500 non-refundable deposit due at the end of the auction. The car is also being sold locally, so I reserve to end the auction at any time.
This would need to be picked up locally. If you want it shipped, you will have to arrange the shipping and pick up.
