You are bidding on a 1959 Austin Healey 100/6, matching numbers car, an extremely original, unmolested, unrestored Healey that has spent most of it’s life in Newport Beach, California, under one owner from 1960 – 2008. The Healey has been well maintained & makes for a ‘first class’ driver quality car that could be displayed for show & driven as is on any road trip.
Originally a black car with red interior according to the Heritage Certificate, the owner did a color change & installed a complete new interior kit sometime in the early 2000’s. A new Stayfast convertible top & side curtains were added in 2010.
Even though the paint is approx. 15 plus years old it still presents its self very well & could be left for many years to come. There are some areas where the paint is showing its age & I have attempted to take pics of these areas. For the most part the paint shows extremely well (looks like an expensive paint job when originally done). I have had the paint professionally touched–up & polished to bring back that ‘like new appearance’.
The engine & transmission were apparently rebuilt during the original owner’s tenure ship but I have no paperwork to prove this. The engine starts effortlessly, runs smooth, pulls strong, has great oil pressure when hot & does not burn any oil. The transmission can be up/down shifted through all of the gears with ease & the overdrive works. The clutch works properly & does not slip. There are no over heating problems & runs consistently at around 170 deg. F. when motoring.
The brakes & clutch hydraulic systems have recently been rebuilt, the car brakes evenly & stops as it should with the 4 drum brakes.
All of the dash gauges are in working order as well as the dash courtesy lighting. All lighting systems, including headlamps, turn signals, brake lights etc. are working.
The wiring harness in the car is original to the car & no one has touched or modified the wiring to the best of my knowledge.
The Healey is equipped with; electric O/D, heater, Momolita wood steering wheel, adjustable steering column & chrome wire wheels.
The chassis is solid & straight, never in an accident... & it still shows the original undercoating that was applied in the 60’s when the car was new, still in excellent condition with only a few spots peeling & cracked from age. The underside of the car was ‘Waxolyed’ in 2010 to preserve & seal the undercoating/chassis.
The doors open & close with ease...a testament to a solid, straight chassis.
The Healey is sporting new chrome wire wheels wrapped with new tubes & tires which are the correct size (hard to find) per the factory Healey specs.
The California plate on the car & registration (original to the car when first registered in California) will be included with the sale. The Healey also has a Newport Beach...Balboa Bay Yacht Club Marina windscreen decal & rear license plate holder installed by the original owner dating back to the early 60’s.
All fluids have been changed in May of this year, the battery is only 2 years old & is kept on a battery maintainer.
The speedo reads zero miles...I was told that someone attempted to repair the odometer but were unsuccessful even though the speedo works as it should the odometer does not. The estimated mileage on the car is approx 46,000 miles according to the previous owner as he was the one that attempted to have it fixed when it stopped working on him. I have no reason not to believe him judging by the overall condition of the car & knowing that the Healey was parked from around 2004 to 2008 in a climate controlled garage during this time in California.
This Healey is very presentable & a pretty car that draws attention wherever it goes. Given the originality & overall solid condition of this car it makes for a rare & indeed collectable Healey 100/6. It should be driven & enjoyed as it is & preserved to maintain its original patina.
More pics are available on request, please provide your personal email address so that I may forward them to you.
I have tried to take pictures of all aspects of the car including the underside, however I don't have a hoist and took them laying underneath. If you want specific pics please feel free to ask, I will do my best to accommodate.
I am willing to ship WORLDWIDE & will assist with shipping arrangements.
Given that I am located inCanada, some US & offshore buyers may be reluctant to bid given the border crossing and or importation paperwork required to import the vehicle to their home destination. I can assist with providing the buyer with contact information to an international transportation company (specializing in relocating vintage and classic cars worldwide) that can safely and at a reasonable cost transport the vehicle. I have personally used this company several times and have been extremely pleased with the pick-up & delivery.
Please feel free to ask as many questions as you like.
