Up for auction is our all original SURVIVOR 66 Mustang Fastback. This car was purchased new in San Jose, California where is stayed until the original owner moved to Grand Junction, Colorado. In the mid 1990’s the original owner sold the car to the gentleman who I purchased it from. So it is a three owner car and has NEVER been in a corrosive environment. This car is very rare in many ways. First, is its originality. This car retains most of its original paint. One of the rear quarter panels has been spot painted along with the trunk lid (color match is ok, but not perfect). The rest of the car is original FoMoCo Emberglo paint. Emberglo is a very rare color and was only 5.6% of Mustangs production in 66, which was also the only year this beautiful color was available. Having Emberglo/parchment interior makes the car really pop. The interior is also very original. The engine is all numbers matching. It still retains all of its California smog components that are all in working condition. To find a Mustang Fastback this untouched and original is a remarkable thing. The condition of the exterior is superb! Having original paint really tells the story. It was well cared for and never abused. There are a number of blemishes and scratches, but the body is all original panels that are factory straight. The body from top to bottom is absoutley 100% rust free! No patches, no repop body panels, no welding or creative craftsmanship. It is all factory original and super nice. The paint has a nice shine to it, but its old and is showing its age. All of the glass is very nice along with all of the bright work and chrome plated parts. The car originally had spoke hubcaps with steel wheels. I found an original set of styled wheels, these are originals with rivets and are NOT reproductions. If you prefer the originals, we can work something out. This car even retains both of its original FoMoCo embossed head lights! The interior is also very nice and original. The original carpet is clean and has no stains and is not faded. All of the door panels and side panels are original and nice. The dash is beautiful and looks nearly new. All of the gauges are crisp looking and operate correctly. The dash pad is perfect and still soft with NO CRACKS. The steering wheel is free of splits and looks great. The headliner is perfect with no tears. The front seats have been recovered, but the back seat is original and perfect. Everything works, including the radio, all lights, horn, wipers, squirters etc.etc. I think everything works as it should. Under the hood you will find a well maintained, very original and all numbers matching “C” code 289. This engine runs like a top and sounds great. No major leaks and is very dependable. I would not hesitate to get in this car today and take a road trip in it. All of the smog components are in tack and functioning. I has had new belts, hoses, fuel pump and is fully serviced. Included with the car is a thick file of service records dating way back. The undercarriage is beautiful and original. Its very clean and is totally original including the exhaust system. All of the exhaust pipe is factory Ford with part numbers and date stampings. On many of the suspension parts and rear differential is factory assembly paint markings and chalk marks. And absolutely NO RUST underneath! Inside the trunk is all original and retains a very old (could be original) spare tire. The trunk mat is nice and under the mat is clean. This car has no reproduction parts on it and you can tell when driving it. Its very tight and solid feeling. No rattles or squeaks making it very pleasurable to drive. I was told the miles are inaccurate in a way. The odometer shows 112,000 miles. The original owner towed the car on a dolly behind his motorhome on many trips. The whole purpose of owning the car was to tow and use when parked camping. The rear wheels stayed on the ground and clicked up the miles. So I was told the engine has about half the miles that the odometer shows because of the nature of its use. Judging on how it runs and drives, I would agree this story is accurate. If you are looking for an all original SURVIVOR Mustang that has not been abused then this is the car for you. Included with the car is its original keys and owner’s manual, I also have many old registrations and other old paperwork. I have the title in hand and ready to transfer ownership.
