Absolutely Superb 1959 Austin Healey “Bugeye “ Sprite This Austin Healey Sprite had a nut and bolt restoration to near mint condition about 6 years ago. Restoration started with a no rust body. sand blasted to bare metal. primed with epoxy sealer and primer. skim coats. then multiple coats of Old English White and clear coat. The paint work is Excellent. This Bugeye was entered in 14 shows and took home eleven first place trophies. You will not find a better Bugeye than this one. The engine was rebuilt by a well- known engine builder and was bored out from 948cc to 998cc increasing horsepower from 43 to 50. New crank. pistons. cam. timing gears. lifters and oil pump. It has a rebuilt distributor and carbs in like new condition. Complete front end and suspension rebuild. Custom built air cleaners with this Bugeye’s nickname. Miss Agatha. etched into one. The car has never overheated nor has it been rained on or driven in wet conditions. Car has been garaged inside and covered out of the weather and sunlight. The car has less than 4000 miles since the complete restoration. I purchased this car from the original owner/restorer in Florida and trailered the car to California. The car was taken to a highly respected British car specialist and body man. The complete exterior was inspected and any small blemishes were corrected. It was also inspected by a knowledgeable British car expert and all mechanicals were gone through to make sure everything was in top condition. The car drives well. pulls strong. shifts well and when idling it is so quiet I am not sure sometimes if the engine is running. The exterior is Old English White. the interior is Cherry Red with White Piping and it has a Black Hood (Top). all factory specs as shown in the photo of the sales brochure. It also has a short black tonneau cover. A Bugeye with this much provenance does not come on the market very often. If you are in the market for an original Bugeye that can hold its own against any other Bugeye out there. this is the car for you.
