Description

This is a mean machine. 1976 Black and Gold Trans Am. A few modifications but dead on stock look. What was modified? Crane Camshaft 287. Ram Air III intake/exhaust. true dual exhaust. 4 speed borg warner converted to Richmond 5 speed matching rear. Before you would be rev’ing at 3500rpm’s at 65mph. now 2500rpm’s at 65mph. You want it to rev at 3500rpm’s at 65mph then don’t shift into 5th gear. Also a long shifter. Performance ignition system. I haven’t dyno’d it but it is well above the lame 200hp it came stock with. 75000 miles on the car. no not just the engine. the entire car. How many of these still exist and how many have this few in miles. I lived overseas in Japan for many many years and now live in the Scottsdale. AZ area home to Barrett Jackson so the car only sees car shows. Things that could be addressed. none the involve the mechanics of the car. The carpet. Should be stretched. Over the years like home carpet it should be stretched. No center consol. It had one which was showing it’s age so I took it out. Much more roomy without. You can find one on Ebay and bring that look back. The back bumper. structurally perfect but the material does lend itself to peeling and it have a few areas where you can see it spidering. Paint is awesome. of course a car some 40 years old needs to be repainted and it was repainted 15 years ago. Since then always garage kept and brought to car shows. ZERO need to repaint unless you want to deal with the spidering on the rear bumper. Could benefit from a conversion to rear disk brakes. NO AC with this car. never had it. The tack had failed so I replaced it. Also added an oil pressure light as well and oil pressure better gauge than came stock. Updated radio. I do have the original. and in glove box CD changer. I do have the spoilers but since they are very low to the ground and can chip I took them off. I think it looks better without but they come with it. Also I have the trim rings that I never put on because they are constantly stolen. I have replaced 2 and didn’t feel like replacing more of them. They come with the car. The car has no rust issues. has surface rust at most. but has been in Arizona now for 12 years so I state NO RUST ISSUES AT ALL. And it is a 455 block. full of HUGE power so be careful to the new owner. On May-07-15 at 07:34:06 PDT. seller added the following information:So questions coming in. This is a numbers matching car. Someone said that the engine paint is not the correct blue. Very possible as the previous owner I bought it from had the crane cam and ram air III work done and the restoration facility might not have used the "true" paint color for the engine or perhaps if they did the paint has faded in the 15 years since it was done. I was also asked about the decals. I am sure they are not the originals as 40 years of wear would have faded them significantly. The dash. steering. are gold and they do show up gold in the pics I took so not sure why I was asked that question. Also some are asking about what my reserve is. I think the whole point of ebay offering a reserve is to have this hidden. I will not state the reserve price. And I am selling it ONLY because I am moving to New York City for a radio show I do on SIRIUS/XM. If the car does not sell. and I might put it up as many a 3 times. after 3 times I will put it in extended storage for 5 or so years and then think about it. By that time I will probably have a winter home in Arizona and summers in New York City and can enjoy the car out of storage. So. selling it is not really important to me. On May-07-15 at 14:23:43 PDT. seller added the following information:I am getting about 10 questions from one guy asking if it is a 50th Anniversary or SE model. I am not a car enthusiast. I found this car. liked it. Compared it to other years. a Black and Gold 1979 which has a 403 engine automatic which I heard was not preferred. I found a 1977 Black and Gold in less than average condition with a 400 automatic. I compared both to this 1976 Black and Gold 455 manual. It ran circles around either. I did not buy it for any special edition. I bought it for performance and I prefer the look of the 76 with the round headlights and curvy sexier hood. And of course the 455 is a monster and who can own a sports car that's automatic? It does have all the gold parts since I have looked at what I did not know and that is that in 1976 there was a 50th Anniversary model. I have no idea if they had Black and Gold models that were not anniversary but just Black and Gold standard. If it ends up being a 50th Anniversary or and SE I guess you luck out. In either was if you wanted it to be a very high dollar car I guess you would have to put it through concourse reconditioning to get huge money. this car is in above average well maintained condition. It looks like an SE or what ever a 50th Anniversary might have. No idea if the SE or 50th has mechanical enhancements or not. Anyway I am not looking for huge money that a concourse SE model would bring because I have no idea if it is an SE and it is absolutely not a concourse. By the way. my cost on this car when bought was $11. 00 or might have been $11. 00. I forgot and it has been 13 years.
