Description |

Up for auction is my 2003 CL500 with 68,250 miles (it may be slightly higher as I’m still driving it). The color is a dark gray color that Mercedes calls Tectite Grey, ith a black full leather interior that Mercedes hand-stitched, ncluding on the dash board. The leather is properly treated and is supple with no wear, ading, racking or drying. I looked at about 12 of these CL500s before choosing this car -- paid $15,500 for it a year ago because of its condition and service history. Thought about the CL55 and CL600, ut those cars have significantly higher repair and insurance costs, o I went with the CL500 that looks the same and is plenty fast. Actually, thought the CL55 and CL600 models looked toyish since Mercedes added the plastic rockers that do not fit the character of the vehicle.
All the switches on the car work and there are no check engine lights or any other warning lights. There are no leaks. The car drives, ccelerates and brakes normally, ith no pulling, ushing or anything abnormal.
This car has been dealer serviced its entire life.
The car has not been driven in salt (i.e.: no rust)
This car has the best suspension Mercedes still offers -- the active ABC suspension. As you may know, he hydraulic pumps that powers the systems seem to last about 60,000 - 90,000 miles and are known as a “common problem” -- mine started leaking about 3 months ago so that and a $1,100 valve were replaced and the system was flushed multiple times with new filters and about 10 liters of hydraulic fluid -- spent about $4,000, nd now there is no sagging even in cold temperatures after sitting for 2 weeks, o the suspension should be good for at least the next 60,000 miles or the next 15 years. Have receipts for this work. If you are looking at these cars make sure the pump has been replaced and the fluid is clear and does not smell burned, therwise you’ll be paying this too.
Services are current (including transmission service, il, nd spark plugs replaced), ll as shown on the car fax from the Benzel Bush Mercedes dealership in NJ. Just had the oil changed at Mercedes Benz of New Rochelle, hich I assume is listed on the CarFax.
Car has no modifications and is not lowered.
This car was purchased new by the then 57 year old CEO of a metals trading company. He lives in NJ and used the car during the summer and fall only -- which is why the miles were so low, ince he lived in Palm Beach for half the year. The local dealership performed every service they could on this car, o when I purchased it it looked, rove and smelled like a new car. For its entire life this has been an adult owned and maintained car and has not been raced, uto crossed or abused. He traded it into the same dealership for a sedan; the dealership reconditioned it and had it for sale on its lot -- it was that nice, nd I purchased it from the dealership's affiliate.
I am selling now only so I can buy an SUV.
Engine: The engine is clean, ry and does not smoke, eak, nock or make any unusual sounds. Burns no oil. Only use high-test gasoline. Used techron [sic] before the oil change.
