In 1988. the 924S' final year of production. power increased to 160 bhp (119 kW; 162 PS) matching that of the previous year's Le Mans spec cars and the base model 944 (itself detuned by 3 bhp (2 kW; 3 PS) for 1988). This was achieved using different pistons which raised the S' compression ratio from 9. 7:1 to 10. 2:1. the knock-on effect being an increase in the octane rating. up from 91 RON to 95. This made the 924S slightly faster than the base 944 due to its lighter weight and more aerodynamic body. This is my "garage queen". 1988 Porsche 924S automatic. 50. 26 original miles as of this listing. The weather is nice and I am driving it a very little bit so the mileage may increase some. I'm the 3rd owner. Clean Carfax. I had the complete FOES (Front Of Engine Service. timing belt etc) done by a Porsche mechanic less than 5k miles ago. I've always used Synthetic Oil. she has never leaked or burned a drop. I have the original Manual. Warranty Book. Porsche air pump. tools. keys (valet key as well) and a folder of receipts. Personally i've documented every drop of gasoline that I put in this vehicle but that's just me. Mechanically she's in great shape. runs and drives very good. Fresh oil. new battery this year. plenty tire tread. she's good to go. If I had the time I personally wouldn't hesitate to hop in it and driver her cross country today. She has the very rare glass Saratoga Top. I replaced the non-working cassette unit with a modern Sony HD radio. USB and Aux Audio input. I semi-hardwired an Escort 8500series Radar/Laser detector with discreet remote control. can be easily removed if desired. I installed the mildest FR Wilk performance chip. gives it a little better low-end power. I have the original chip "somewhere" and if you like I can ship it to you when I find where I safely stored it. Everything is in great working condition with the following exceptions; Intermittent Wiper Relay I believe is dying. normal speed works fine but if you choose "Intermittent" setting you may have to select it a few times to get it to work. There are a fair amount of very minor paint chips from road rocks in the nose area. One of the previous owners had a "Rhino liner" (or similar) protectant applied to the lower (lower than door panels) portions of the body side panels and in some areas it's flaking a little. The passenger side after-market Porsche floormat has a discoloration stain. NOT THE CARPET. THE FLOORMAT. The cargo cover in the hatch doesn't have the "snap" it once had. still works fine. The paint is very good for a 27 year old vehicle. besides the aforementioned rock chips in the nose if you really look you'll find some other imperfections but you'd be hard-pressed to consider anything more than very very minor. no dents. scratches. etc. Interior is great condition. Dash header has very minor cracking as is very common on this model but much better than most out there. This is my 3rd Porsche 924 in the last 20 years. One of the nicest well-sorted 924's i've seen. Unfortunately it's not very toddler-friendly despite having back seats with lap belts. In the last 3 years (since I became a parent) I don't think i've put 5k miles on her. I've always garage-kept it and I believe the previous 2 owners did as well. Never seen winter. salt. accidents or abuse. Feel free to contact me with any questions or photo requests. As far as shipping or picking it up. that's on you but I will facilitate any way I can. again contact me with any concerns prior to bidding please.
