Description

The 911 Targa. an icon of Porsche design. has come to be defined by its unique aluminum roll bar with three vertical vents and “targa” script. Over the years. it left such a lasting impression on the car’s drivers and fans that Porsche returned to this design for its newest-generation. A further effort to improve handling prompted design engineers to move the oil tank from behind the right rear wheel to the front. In order to make filling the oil tank easier. an external filler flap was installed below the right-side rear window. This distinguishing feature was extremely short-lived as occasionally the oil filler flap was mistaken for the gas tank which. of course. yielded undesirable results making the 1972 911 the only production year for the side oil filler. This 1972 Porsche 911 Targa is quite the beauty. I acquired the car 2 years and have replaced or had some items serviced along the way. The engine is a 2. 4L and still obtains its original Mechanical Fuel injection. I have no knowledge of the engine ever being rebuilt; however. it does run strong. but could use a tuning. The transmission shifts easily through all of the gears. The following have been replaced or serviced: Ø All 6 Fuel injectors- Replaced and Fuel tank replaced Ø Fuel Injection Pump- Serviced Ø Oil lines- Replaced In its original color. Silver Metallic paint code 936; this Targa has no rust. The following have been replaced: Ø Front and rear window seals Ø Front and rear Targa top seals Ø Door Seals Ø Trunk seal Ø H4 headlights The braking system has been overhauled. The following have been replaced: Ø Caliper Ø Brake Pads Ø Master Cylinder Ø Brake lines Ø New fluids The interior is black with original seats. The following have been replaced: Ø Dash ** Please Note** This is not a dash cover. this is an OEM dash purchased from Stoddard Ø New carpet As previously mentioned. the 1972 Porsche 911 is one of the rarest 911s today. Please only Serious bidders. All questions encouraged. Porsche is sold AS IS with no warranty expressed or implied.
