1973 Porsche 911T Targa

Rare Signal Yellow

MFI 2.4L

VIN# 9113110186

You are bidding on an awesome 1973 Porsche 911T Targa with an exceptional color combination, Signal Yellow on Black Leatherette!

This car is one of the first 1973 911s in the US. It has the 2.4 MFI engine which is more valuable and desirable than the later 73.5 CIS injection engine. The car has been in Louisville for the majority of its life. I purchased it from a good friend and know the history for the past 20+ years.

The car has some great options from the factory such as Comfort Equipment, Option Group G03, & Upgraded Stabilizer Bars. Please refer to the C of A provided in the photos.

I started a driver quality restoration on the car just over a year ago. I had the car professionally disassembled, the glass removed, sanded down, the minimal rust cut out, corrected, and freshly painted to its original rare color, Signal Yellow. I used BASF Glasurit base/clear which is the same paint used at the Porsche factory.

The car is not a number matching car as it did not have its original engine when I purchased it. The original engine had a cracked case that was sent off for repair 15+ years ago. The case was not repairable so it was discarded. This was before the boom when the cases were considered worthless.

The engine installed in the car is the correct 2.4 MFI engine for the car with the correct 915 transmission. The engine was removed from the car due to the car being disassembled for paint. While the engine was out of the car I removed the engine tin and other miscellaneous parts and repainted them. Additionally, I had the engine resealed, installed turbo valve covers, new gaskets, and replaced any oil lines that needed replacement. After installing the engine and getting the car running, I notice it has a few minor remaining oil leaks. These will still need to be repaired by the new owner.

When I received the car it didn’t have the original seats, shifter, radio, and it was missing other misc. parts like the glove box, and door pockets. The interior door panels were also cut to accommodate speakers. I have replaced the seats with original seats that I recovered in original vinyl, I installed new old stock door panels, and have the correct shifter for the correct look.

The passenger seat will need the hinge repaired. It was missing the bar that connects the right and left hinge at the rear of the seat. I have the hinge in my shop in a box. The headrest will need a simple repair as well. Please refer to the photos.

The carpet is in good condition. Is it perfect, no, however it is acceptable for a driver quality restoration.

The car has no rust. If you look at the pictures and reference the floor, the battery boxes, the front internal area of the trunk and the other areas prone to rust you will see that there is no rust on this car. It is extremely solid.

The Targa top fits and works but if it were me I would have it repaired. However with these cars, the top generally stays folded up and in the trunk as you enjoy them during great weather!

This car is drivable. However, the car has been sitting for years, the brakes are not considered road worthy as I have not serviced them, and the tires will need to be replaced. As you can see in the video, the car drives, shifts well, and stops. The car will need to be sorted out and completed. Some examples of items that need attention are miscellaneous rubber trim installed, missing odds and ends, getting all the lights working correctly, fixing the cold start, reconnecting the emergency brake as well as other details.

Currently I have other cars under restoration which is causing delays with this car getting finished thus the reason for listing the car in its incomplete condition. My intent with this listing is to sell this car for a fair market value based off being 90% complete allowing another enthusiast to complete the car. An individual who can finish the car themselves may be able to finish the car and have less than market value in the car which would offer a great equity position in this appreciating asset.
