VERY NICELY RESTORED 1966 MGB, 4 SPEED MANUAL W/ RARE OVERDRIVE, AWESOME CAR!

There are plenty of MGBs out there, ut the early cars like this 1966 MGB roadster are truly special. The purest design that is most closely linked to its British sports car roots, his very nicely restored convertible has a simple, lean look and energetic performance to back it up.Although the shape didn't change much over the MGB's life, his early car looks far more upscale than many of its siblings. Surely some of it has to do with the chrome bumpers and grille, hich has always been the preferred look, nd some if it might have to do with the beautiful white paint. Instead of being plain and subtle, he white paint sparkles and draws your eye down the 'B's smooth flanks, eminding you that yes, he British really did perfect the art of the inexpensive sports car. We're having a hard time finding any flaws on this neat little convertible, hich offers good gaps, oors that close easily, nd no evidence of major body surgery. The work was carried out by a noted MG specialist, o the details are exactly right, oo, ncluding the stainless trim along its sides, he wonderfully British rear-view mirror, nd the red taillights, hich have a familiar shape but a look that's unique to the early cars.The beautiful black leather interior has that wonderful lived-in look that makes natural materials so much more appealing than vinyl. White piping adds an upscale look to the simple surroundings, nd it's all in excellent condition with new materials throughout. A handsome steering wheel with delicate wire spokes makes this sports car easy to wheel around and the 4-speed manual gearbox (with overdrive!) is a joy to row through the gates. Crisp, lear Smiths gauges are attractive without being too busy and we love the fabric-covered speaker in the middle of the dash, hich is powered by the original AM radio up above it. Sadly it's not functional, ut it would be a real shame to replace it and with the top down, ou won't miss it anyway. The top is easy to operate and looks great even when it's up, nd there's a nicely appointed trunk with a full-sized spare for emergencies.The sturdy 1.8 liter inline-four would power MGs for decades, nd it's at its very best here. The engine was rebuilt to stock specification and wears a pair of freshly rebuilt carburetors and a bright red valve cover, s original. A few upgrades make it suitable for use today, ncluding an electric fan on the front of the radiator so it never loses its cool and all the wiring is new, o you can hold your Lucas jokes. The 4-speed manual gearbox is a delight to use and offers a usable overdrive for today's highway cruising and the supple suspension is both athletic and smooth-riding, combination that's hard to replicate in today's heavy cars. A sweet-sounding Monza exhaust system gives the engine a raucous baritone wail and while the underside hasn't been fully restored, ts' in good order with no trouble in the usual spots. And no British sports car is complete without a set of chrome wire wheels, ith these wearing 175R14 blackwalls for a no-nonsense look.Complete with 25 years' worth of maintenance records and restoration receipts, his is a high-quality MGB for the enthusiast who is shopping based on things other than price alone.
