Offered for sale, from KURT TANNER MOTORCARS, is this very decent MGA 1500 Roadster for restoration. This car was recently purchased out of an Oregon barn from it's long term owner where it was stored indoors for most of it's life. It is provided with an early 3-main bearing 1800cc MGB engine for rebuild, which will fit into the car easily and perfectly and will add significant horsepower for improved performance. This conversion/upgrade is widely accepted for the MGA and will certainly liven up the car.
This car is relatively very complete except for the front valance, radiator, and battery cover. There are also a few other chrome items that would automatically be purchased during the restoration process. The body on this car appears very rustfree and extremely solid. There is some minor surface rust and the paint is a bit scabby, but the body is generally very sound and structurally excellent. Even the bottoms of the front and rear fenders and rockers are super solid !There are some dings and dents from years of storage. The undercarriage appears very straight and in good order, but again, a little bit of surface rust that would easily blast off.
The seats appear to be the original leather. the windshield has a crack. The car is provided with an old softtop and frame, original sidescreen set for restoration. The car also has a set of apart MGB carburetors.Overall, an extremely solid MGA 1500 Roadster in very nice original colors for restoration. The original mileage of 82,053 is believed to be correct. With the added bonus of the early 1800 engine, this worthwhile project will be a rewarding one.
