Description

You are looking at a 1992 SAAB 900 Turbo Convertible. I have owned the car since October of 2014, nd purchased it after my 1986 SAAB 900 was totaled in an accident. This was my first convertible, th Classic SAAB 900. PA state inspection good through October 2016. EDIT: Forgot to include the car will come with the original "parade boot" hard-cover for when the top is done. It comes in the original case, nd is in good condition with some scuffs and marks (see pics).
This car has had a lot of work done to it, nd I have receipts for some of it from a very well-regarded SAAB/Volvo/Mercedes shop in the area. I am selling because I had a chance to pick up a 2001 Viggen, hich if you know SAABs, ou know it's kind of the Holy Grail.
Let's start with the documented work by Euro Motors in Harrisburg. In 2012, he speedometer was replaced. I have signed documentation of this. The speedo reads 149,893, ut is actually 122,163. Clock spring, ew rotors, nd steering column bushing done at this time. In 2013, he head gasket was replaced and the head resurfaced. Alternator replaced at this time with a Bosch unit. Obviously new coolant and thermostat done as well. $2,650 worth of repairs from these two events alone.
Work I have done to the car - replaced muffler with a Bosal unit. Replaced IAC with a German-made aftermarket unit. Replaced ignition coil with Bosch unit. Replaced ECU with tested and working Bosch unit. 4 new Vredestein Quatrac tires in November of 2015 (probably less than 1,000 miles on them). Fuel filter, lugs/wires/rotor/cap, ll fluids have been replaced by me (except coolant, s noted above). This includes changing out the Type F trans fluid one quart at a time at each oil change. An old-school SAAB guy recommended this to me, nd I think it's good advice for the automatics. I have replaced most vacuum hoses with hi-temp silicone.
What will need done - the biggest issue that isn't cosmetic is that the car has a hesitation at acceleration and warm idle. Based on my work and diagnostics, believe this to be an injector or the fuel pressure regulator. I was in the middle of troubleshooting this when the Viggen opportunity came along. Also, t is missing a piece at the throttle cable which I have fabricated. It is no longer made and tricky to find, ut if you're a junkyard picker it should turn up. My homemade job works just fine. It's been a fun ride, ut I'm ready to sell and move on.
Cosmetically, t needs a respray, t least of the hood (if someone can match the color of the body). Slight rust bubble just formed this year at driver's front fender (see pic). Tear in the back of the convertible window that I have sealed with tent seam sealer. The whole top should be replaced soon, ut it is leak free and hanging in there. Top moves up and down just as it should.
Cracked lower air dam (see pic). Peeling "chrome" on grill (see pic). Driver's seat splitting about 2.5 inches and some wear on it, ut very good leather overall. Dash has an aftermarket cover but I assume it is cracked like all 900s from the good old days. Spider crack in left taillight (see pic).
Please ask me any questions you have and I will answer to the best of my ability. Mileage may go up, s I drive this car occasionally. I have driven it to Baltimore, hiladelphia, over Delaware, nd State College PA, ll 200 mile or more round trips. I wouldn't hesitate to drive it that far again, hough the stutter at acceleration needs solved soon. The turbo pulls hard, keep premium fuel in the tank and synthetic oil in the crankcase, nd drive like a mature adult rather than beating on it. This would be a great restore (the expensive work is done) or a good first c900 for someone new to the marque.
I'm motivated to sell - all reasonable offers will be considered. There is easily over $3,000 worth of parts and labor in this car, ut I need it gone to make room for the Viggen. I also have a 1988 900 Turbo Convertible that will be listed sometime soon, ith APC red box, omo/SAAB steering wheel, AAB winter floormats and other rare components. Runs and drives but needs some work. Message me for details.
