After owning my Land Cruiser for 20 years (only the second owner), need to make room in my driveway. The FJ62 was only produced between 1988 and 1990, ith changes from the FJ60 including fuel injection and an automatic transmission, nd an update to the grille/headlight look. It has manual-locking hubs, ush-button 4-high, nd mechanical shifter for 4-low.It's not a show-winner, ut it's in great overall shape for its age, ow-mileage, echanically sound. Here's the details:
The Good:
- In 2004 I replaced both fenders with new reproductions and two used doors because of rust, nd had it repainted the original red. - In 2014 I replaced the power steering pressure hose, ost brake lines, aster cylinder, heel cylinders/calipers, nd shoes/pads.- In 2015 I replaced the fuel pump, uel line, nd fuel filter, nd the muffler/tailpipe combo.- It currently has white wagon-wheel rims with winter tires and lots of tread left on them. I have all five original chrome rims in good shape including spare but the tires are spent.
The Bad:
- A stone chip in the middle of the windshield has spread with a single crack towards the passenger side about 10"; doesn't obstruct driver's view.- The radio only works when it feels like it, sually after it's warmed up a bit. Otherwise it gets power but no sound. I swapped out the original radio/cassette player with a CD player, ut the problem is still there. Original radio also included.- The left exhaust header is cracked at the oxygen sensor mount (the pipe between the exhaust manifold and catalytic converter).- Fan belt squeals on hard acceleration,- There is a crack in the driver's side mirror.- The spare tire winch is frozen, ut the tire was able to be removed.
The Ugly:
- Michigan winters took their toll, nd last year I did some amateur bodywork to both rear corners, wo doors and the tailgate. Not the prettiest repair, ut all rotted metal was cut away and replaced with 18-gauge steel; see the close-up pictures.- The roof rails rusted under the chrome trim; I removed the trim, oated the rails with anti-rust spray, nd held up fine through last winter. I still have the chrome.- The headliner was sagging so I removed it, ut still have the bows if you want to replace it.- The vehicle history report shows a previous accident/salvage title. I was unaware of this until I posted this ad and saw the report. The person we bought it from in 1996 was a salvage operator who said he bought it new for his daughter in the salvage company's name. There was no structural damage noted by the body shop when I had it repainted in 2004.
I've included the bad with the good because I don't believe in ripping anyone off. As with any used vehicle though it is sold as-is, here-is with no warranty expressed or implied.
