This truck is a time capsule. It was delivered to Toyota of Greenwood. SC in 1982 and equipped with factory Power Steering. Air Conditioning and an AM/FM Cassette. She is offered on consignment by Land Cruiser Nation which has owned. restored and consigned scores of FJ40's since 1995. I can attest to the fact that this truck is rare in more ways than one! Toyota sold very few FJ40's in the US market from 1981 to 1983. Toyota's new and larger FJ60 wagon was introduced in 1981 and eclipsed the FJ40 in sales. This FJ40 has never been apart. The top has never been removed. The number of trucks that included factory A/C & power steering was just a handful. The body and frame are free of all but the most minor surface rust. The dealer sticker is still on the rear door sill. To have a truck like this. in this condition. is pretty remarkable. Anyone can write a check to restore something but it’s never quite the same. There are those of us that place the greatest value on these original “survivors”. If you are one of these people. you will appreciate this Medium Blue (Code 857) 1982 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40. There have been no attempts to refurbish this FJ40. What you see here is an original well preserved truck that has been on the road for 33 years. You can see every spot weld on this truck and she has all the glory of a excellent survivor. She runs like great and has been well maintained. pull the choke. turn the key and she bursts to life every time. Even after sitting idle for weeks. From the pictures you can see the paint has been rubbed down to primer on the hood. Also. the fuel door paint has been all but removed from keys rubbing while locking and unlocking the fuel door. You can see exactly what you're getting here. The owners did not want to paint over the original patina. Nothing is hidden and there are no surprises. Details & Condition The truck has her bumps and bruises. nicks and scratches that come with 33 years of age but any owner would be proud of her overall condition. You will NOT find diamond plate. fender flares. CB antenna. jerry cans. roof racks. a V8 or other modifications. The Toyota 2F inline six cylinder retains all the original emission/smog equipment and runs great! Power steering. clutch. 2WD and 4WD transmission and transfer case are in good working order. This FJ40's body. undercarriage and frame are solid. The Horizontal surfaces of the floors have had lining applied long ago and you can rest assured that the sheet metal under that lining is in the same great condition as the rest of this FJ40. The interior is excellent and EVERYTHING works. as it should. The truck was ordered from the dealer with the upgraded factory AM/FM/Cassette that appears as an option on the window sticker. The A/C blows cold and heater works well. turn signals. hazards. headlight high and low beams. wipers. windshield washer. taillights. backup lights. license plate lights. odometer. speedometer. fuel. oil. amp and temp gauges all function. The front seats have been reupholstered while the back jump seats retain the original vinyl in good shape. Driver side jump seat has a small split on a seam where the thread has given way. The headliner has been replaced at some point in the past. The truck has stock 3. 70 gears for better highway performance than earlier FJ40's. This trucks suspension consists of rugged solid axles and OEM leaf springs at both ends. At the back of the truck's frame are newer OEM bumperettes. Under it all you will find OEM 15 inch six spoke white rims with WARN locking hubs surrounded by Goodyear Workhorse All Season tires which will need replacement soon. Hanging on the swing out rear tire carrier is the matching spare tire. Summary This Land Cruiser has been driven and maintained over the years. The odometer currently reads 176. 60 miles. The whole truck reeks with survivor status. Driven an average of 5300 miles a year. she’s now waiting for your next adventure!
