1977 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40. Texas 1 Owner, 37K Miles, Original Paint. This Cruiser has all the important documents; Original Title from 1978 when purchased by the original owner, Original Toyota Window Sticker and Gulf States Installed options updated wicker. Original MSRP was $6,037.90 in 1977. On top of all this the Original owner also had the dealer install Toyota Air Conditioning ($600.00 option), front hubs upgraded ($145.00 option), undercoating (49.50) and a few other items listed on the original Bill of Sale thats included, totaling the MSRP to $7345.40. This 1977 Cruiser was sold on 1/31/1978 with 88 miles on it from Toyota of Irving, TX (maybe about 45 minutes from here). This Toyota dealership is still in business today. Documents also include sales person thank you letter, factory Fuel economy form, original finance documentshowsing $198.36 a month for 36 month financed from Oak Cliff Bank and Truck of Dallas, TX and even some dealer maintenance receipts. The Original Owners manual, maintenace and warranty manuals and even the dealer installed Toyota AC Guide and emissions book. Now on to the condition of the Cruiser. 37K original miles is correct, this cruiser is NOT 137K miles. She has her Original Paint, all original drive train with the smog pump still on; howeverthe belt is disconnected, this same belt would connect to the AC, so the AC beltis also disconnected as they are the same belt. This cruiser fires right up, sounds great and drivesawesome with plunty of power and even all the gauges work. The manual 4 speed shifts and clutch feels great, all gears work perfect. This is a factory power front disc brake cruiser and the brakes do work good but feel that maybe its time to change the pads and a service as I was told they were the original. The dash looks great, pad has a few cracks, wiring and underdash looks excellent and originaly placed, the seats were perfessionaly redone to the highest quality original you can get. Recent maintenance has been completed, the Original Radiator was removed and a $330.00 correct FJ alluminum radiator was installed, New Exhaust was installed, New Battery also installed. The toyota rubber front floor mat is near perfect and the rear heater even works with no leaks. This FJ as you can see in the underbody pics and by the window sticker and invoice had the dealer installed light underbody coating, thisshows to have beenpeeling off and the body looks greatunder those areas. Everything about this cruiser is about the best you can get for a find like this; this is the perfect canidate for a 100K cruiser if restored correctly as its the best of everything...Color, documention, 1-owner, Options,Toyota AC Unitand a desirable year. The only negative is some typical rust spots as these things were not factory preped to last. Youcan seethe sun patina on the hood and the door gaskets are dried up,there is typicalFJ40 rust areas on the lowest parts on the rear doors, around the base of the removable top, were the top meets the tub and roof areas andthe rear has some small spots and some bubbles and small holes. Inside the tub you will find some floor surface rust. You should be able to see everything in the pictures below. Overall, this is repairable or just leave as is if you want an original body cruiser, i just didnt want to leave anything out. The underbody looks great as you can see in the pictures. The tires are dry rotted but dohold air and I have driven it as it is, but will need to be replaced...they are prob from the early 90s or 80s. This is a rare opportunity to get something that you can start with the best and restore to the best and have the best. Most cruisers are not found in this condition and many are pieced together, used up, rusted out or even a base model with just had many owners...here is a chance to get one thats not any of those.
