Classic 1987 Toyota Supra Turbo - less than 1000 miles on brand new engineAll Original! 100% StockRare and Classic Car - 2+2 seatingOriginal blue California license plate. very coolFamous 7M-GTE Turbo Straight Six EngineThis was literally the FIRST of the 1987 Turbo Supras sold in California; the original owners purchased this car July of 1986. I purchased this car from the original owners about a year ago. and they carefully watched for the first shipment into the state. The truck brought three of these to the dealership. one was for the owner. one was for his daughter. and the other was for his son-in-law who was a salesman at the dealership. The son-in-law wanted to be the first salesman in the state to sell one of these highly anticipated cars. so he and his wife agreed they would sell hers and she would get hers on the next shipment. The original owners loved and took very good care of this car up until I bought it. When I purchased the car. it had been sitting for a while due to a blown head gasket. but it still ran. Unfortunately after getting it to my mechanic and he started to pull the engine apart. we found that there was a crack in the head and the cylinder walls were very corroded. At that point I decided to just put a whole new engine in car. This car is very rare to find in this good of condition. It is all original. stock wheels. radio. etc. Other than the leather being totally shot. the interior is in good condition for its age. Dash is in very good condition. no cracks. The body is in good condition for its age. there is some paint fade but really not too bad. and a handful of nicks. dings and scratches here and there (as to be expected with a car that is 28 years old). but there is no major body damage anywhere. The interior needs the most attention. The seats definitely need to be reupholstered. leather is very cracked all around. The center console cover also could be rewrapped and the ebrake could use a new leather slip on. I got a quote from two different shops. one quoted me $2500 to reupholster all four seats front and back in leather. the other quoted me $3600 for all the seats as well as rewrapping the center console. redoing the leather doors inserts (which don't need to be redone). and redo the leather e-brake slip on too. High end kits can be purchased for a custom fit. 100% high quality leather for about $1200 if you have the know how to do yourself. The carpet is actually very good for its age. with a spot treatment and shampoo it would look very good. There is wear and tear on the buttons in the dash. which if you really want you can have the buttons refurbished to look new. This car has the potential to be a show quality car with just cosmetic work at this point. Overall the car is very solid and sound mechanically. Basically everything that needed to be done mechanically has been done. with the exception of the suspension. which could use new shocks/struts but its still rides well as is. I figured the new owner may want to swap that out with a coil system anyway. All original! Original razor blade style wheels. stock radio. etc. etc. I even have the owners manual. owners guide. sales brochure (which is particularly rare. even more than the car). and the original window sticker. Basically the only thing that is not still with the car is the tool kit and jack. I've really enjoyed having and driving this car. however when I bought it. I thought it only needed a head gasket. but ended up putting in a whole new engine. So needless to say I have WAY more money into it than originally thought. and at this point I just need to get some of my money back. especially since this a recreational vehicle for me. There's less than 1000 miles on the new engine. Over $9000 in mechanical work alone. I have most of the receipts; of course it passed smog no problem and is currently registered.
