VW Rabbit Diesel Pickup Truck

For Sale here is a 1982 Volkswagon Rabbit Diesel Pickup Truck. I've owned for about 5 years. and have used it almost everyday. It shows 191000 on the odometer. but I once had to pull the instrument cluster and written on the back of it in yellow marker paint was the notation " VW Rabbit. $35". So who knows how many miles it has. My experience tells me the engine and transmission are almost bulletproof. the rest of the truck is basically plastic. In the time I've owned it I have replaced the head gasket. right after I bought it. I've also replaced the structs and shocks. timing belt. and I just bought a new battery in Oct of 2014. The truck is easy to work on. everything is pretty much accessible. It has some rust. but it hasn't seemed to get any worse in the time I've had it. Anyway you can see it in the photos. The milage I've gotten has been a pretty consistent 44-46 MPG. It has a 15 gallon tank so you can go a pretty long distance before filling it again. I primary used it around my home for going back and forth to my shop. about 36 miles per day. Although I once drove from Northern Illinois down to Oklahoma City and back without any problems. The truck drives well. The transmission is a 5 speed manual and it shifts well into all gears without any problems at all. including reverse. I did put an engine block heater on it because I drove it in the winter and that worked well and it always started no matter how cold it got. I live out in the country and they mostly use sand in the winter at the intersections. so it hasn't seen much salt since I've owned it. The drivers seat bottom is worn and a bit torn. but these are seat covers. I don't know what the seat looks like as I've never taken them off. The dash is decent and there is a very small star or chip in the windshield. but has been there for years and has not gotten bigger. hard to notice. The camper cap is in pretty decent shape and I'll fill the bed up with VW Rabbit parts for the new owner. Mostly used. but some nice items. like new grills. a couple hoods and other items. see photos. Probably expensive if you have to buy from a supplier like "Parts Place". This is basic transportation with outstanding fuel mileage. However it's 30 plus years old and you definitely will not be welcome at the Kings Ball or Country Club in it. This is more of a great "fishing or hunting truck". Why am I selling it? I bought a Rabbit Convertible and pulled the gas engine out and put a Rabbit diesel into it. and I absolutely love it. Especially in the summer with the top down. I just got my insurance renewal and license plate renewal for the pickup and I just decided I don't want to have two Rabbits. So I made my choice.
