2003 Volkswagen Golf TDI 5 SPEED MANUAL ALH VW Diesel 45MPG

This is a great little car for commuting if you want something reliable and excellent on fuel. With the right conditions and driving style you can reach near 50MPG.

• Clutch catches well
• New headgasket and machined head (March 2015)
• ARP Head Studs (Much much stronger than stock bolts)
• New wastegate turbo actuator(March 2015)
• New thermostat(March 2015)
• Brakes are newish (pads and rotors) and bite very well.
• Tires have decent life to them
• No shakes or vibrations
• Let go of the wheel and the car goes straight
• I drive this car back and fourth to work (70 miles round trip) mostly highway at 70-80mph (it has no problem reaching higher speeds though, nlike many other carbon clogged tdis) and still avg 42MPG
• Tranny feels good... no grinds or anything like that.
• New blower motor resistor (June 2015)
• New steering angle sensor(June 2015)
• Clean carfax that shows no accidents. (The rear bumper may have been resprayed at some point though)

I bought this car last September for what I thought was a pretty good deal and got rid of my low mileage alh to fund my swap car with the difference in cost. What I thought was a small coolant leak, hen I bought it, urned out to be a bad headgasket pressurizing the coolant system. I spent a week trying to diagnose the leak before I realized. Long story short, got screwed by the PO. I drove the car to my fathers shop in NY and had him remove and send the head out to his buddy's machine shop. Got the head back and ran into a few more issues that required lots of tweaking of the injection pump and wastegate actuator, ut now I'm happy to say the car is running pretty well.
It still needs some work though. Nothing major.
Here's what's wrong:
The blower motor makes a little noise, ike a squeaky noise on low settings, ut if you put the ac/heat fan setting on 3 or 4 it goes away. It's more noticeable on the lower settings. Some WD-40 would probably fix it, ut then it would stink for a few days. When you start the car it smokes for about a minute or two tops, f you drive it, t'll go away before you make it down the block. This is fairly common with these diesel TDIs. It was a city car so it has scratches and dings. Rear view mirror is cracked. Passenger seat has a tear in it. I drive this car everyday and have no issue with it.
