1979 Volkswagon Beetle Convertible

We inherited this car around 2 years ago and have only driven/started it to keep it from sitting for long periods of time. The car has been in a garage. The car will start as it has a new battery, ut we believe that the gasoline is old and only runs for a moment or two after it is started. The brakes seem good. The clutch seems as if it needs work as it is difficult to change gears. The body/chrome is in great shape. The trim on the top of the windows is coming loose (see pics). This car as it always get's compliments when it is sitting outside. The interior is in great shape, he roof looks as if it is in good shape and functions properly. The speedometer is not working but all other gauges/lights seem to function properly. The wipers are slow to get going. The radio is not original and is not working.
Once again, e inherited this car and have not really driven it so it's difficult to give many details. I would imagine that if you are "mechanically-handy" and looking for a fun car, his would be it.
