Description

HELLO! Drive something that gives you a giant smile each and everytime you're in it!up for sale is my 1973 VW type 181 Thing-- please take a look at the pics-- here are some of the high points!
UPDATE#1: PLEASE understand that YES you can purchase a fully restored thing for 22-25k, and NO this is not a fully restored thing-- but its a thing in super solid shape with paperwork showing all of the work done and a monster race engine. If you want a fully restored thing-- buy this one and put in another 5k in it -- and now what do you have?? A fully restored thing that shreds the street and is as reliable as the day is long for the same price!
Body is in fantastic shape rust free other than a few minor scuffs which I've coated with protectant (kinda like the look, either go all the way to cherry restoration or keep like i have)
Has a huge box full of parts parts parts-- all new! new trim, new lights, new locks, new matts, new latches, moldings-- everything i could buy off of the thing store-- just never installed any because as i stated, i like the way it is now and if i put all of those on it, it would be smart first to send off to body shop for new paint etc..
SCAT 2187 RACE ENGINE!!! look this bad boy up it SCREAMS! This is a RACE BUILT TUNED ENGINE, engine alone was nearly 6k and i spent another 6k+ over at Austin's premiere VW shop Kelly Hill Autowerks to have it professionally installed and broken in. During that time i also had it spec'd so all lighting works, BRAND NEW BRAKES, anything that needed fixing I paid to have fixed mechanically. New ignition, new switches, it has Billstien shocks, its a super fun ride sounds as can be and a DAILY DRIVER. The odometer does not work, the speedometer kinda shakes-- been meaning to replace but haven't. fuel gauge works-- I've only had it a few months from Kenny so i estimate i only have about 200-250 miles max.
i have all of the doors, windows, back bumper and top too. Top frame i would replace or have fixed, to has a slight bend and doesn't fit perfect. it has a car cover, and back seat.
I personally will leave it as is if i do not sell it, the other option is to go ahead and cherry it out which wouldn't take much at all. I just think it looks awesome in the stance it has and love to drive it on sunny days here in Texas. Has a cool wooden steering wheel with working horn, awesome off road tires, half moon caps, working bright lights including those huge flood lights. solid pan no rust, rhino lined inside pan.
There are other things available, but none that can keep up with this one-- ebay will not allow me to put the link to the vimeo page of it running, but please message me and ill get that to you-- so you can see for yourself what it sounds like!
feel free to ask any question, clean and clear texas title. Welcome to come see too!
thank you!
