Here is a exceptional original 1959 sunroof deluxe. This bus runs as good as it looks.
1959 hallmarked the introduction of the new colors and more robust bumpers for the VW Bus lineup.
This exceptional van retains its original floors, original undercarriage (bellypans), rocker panels and even the battery tray are original. It was found in a garage west of Eugene Oregon in great condition. I speculate this is even a undocumented low milage car simply because of the nonrust factor, ask any VW repair shop how rare it is for any early bus to have a perfect battery tray!
There are currently many imposter 23 window buses on the market or coming to market, many are easy to spot while others are harder to un-authenticate.........so be careful out there folks!
This bus has its birth certificate from VW further authenticating its legitimate and rare build status. 99% of deluxe buses built this early will have only 2 popout windows and a full length middleseat. The 2/3 middleseat is rare by itself but factor in the 6 popouts and full bench seat up front and you have a very uncommon/rare build.
The engine is a 1600 dualport blueprinted and balanced with dellorto 36mm DRLA carburetors. It keeps up with modern traffic just fine. Transaxle is new rebuilt 1968 long axle. Brakes are high end disc up front, stock drums in the rear and a dual reservoir master cylinder.
This van is available for viewing with an appointment located just north of San Francisco California in San Rafeal.
Car has a clean title and can be shipped anywhere in the world, We have shipped literally hundreds of vintage cars and motorcycles over the past 25 years with only positive experiences on both ends.
Please feel free to ask any and all questions 503 766 9484
