We have the listing set up to accept bids only from US bidders in an effort to prevent scammers from ruining the auction. If you are a legitimate bidder outside of the US and you have a way to have the bike picked up at our location without it being crated e-mail Chris at chris@motoworkschicago.com. Provide him with your ebay ID and confirm that you can arrange international shipping and have the bike picked up uncrated at our location in Chicago and he will add you to the list that allows you to bid.
This is a 1960 BMW R50 with matching engine and frame numbers and a clean title. It obviously needs some parts and some love but it is a great start to creating the /2 of your dreams. The crankshaft spins freely in the engine.
There are many pictures below detailing the condition of the bike. Please look at all of them carefully and ask any questions you have before bidding. You can call Chris at 312-878-8711 e-mail him at chris@motoworkschicago.com or contact us through ebay.
The bike is located at Motoworks in the city of Chicago. If you are local and would like to see it in person please call 312-878-8711 to set up an appointment.
Shipping a motorcycle can be expensive so be sure to look into it before bidding. The zip code is 60608 to help in figuring shipping. Our recommendation for a great shipper is Danny at D&K Services. He can be reached at 973-534-7823.
If you are an Illinois resident we must process the title and plate application for you (it is the same cost as if you bought it from a private party). If you are an Illinois resident or a resident of any of the states that reciprocate with Illinois on vehicle tax we must collect sales tax on the vehicle based on the tax rate of your state. We have a documentation fee of $165.
Winning bidder picks up in Chicago or arranges for/pays for all shipping/crating. We can deliver it locally for $1.50 per mile round trip ($20 minimum). $500 deposit via PayPal due within 24 hours of auction close. Remainder via one of the standard payment methods within seven days. No PayPal for remainder unless you contact us first. The bike is to be picked up within three weeks of auction close. $25 per week storage fee after that.
