For your consideration is this unique 1974 BMW R90S. I bought it from a friend a little over two years ago. He had acquired it from the original owner in 2002 who had just completed a rebuild of the engine and trans after a long period of storage.
As you can see it has a rather different look from the typical R90S due to the Kalahari red paint job. Previous owner liked it enough to have it hand striped. The paint is in good condition but for a scrape on the tailpiece and a couple nicks in the tank. There is a small cut in the seat cover, ut a new seat cover is included.
It was manufactured in the last month of MY 1974 and it is 34 numbers away from the last one, hich would explain the drilled rotors and perhaps the switches. It does have the lovely aluminum turn signals and the kick start characteristic of the 1974s. The owner installed an oil pressure gauge in place of the clock, ut there is a clock in the box of parts that comes with the bike. The shocks are Konis and it has a fork brace in the interest of better handling. Stainless spokes and many stainless fasteners, ut the original fasteners still here in the box of parts.
The bike starts and runs well. There is no smoke and the clutch and transmission work as they should. I have ridden it on a few day rides and it was a delight. Since I bought it I have kept it covered and garaged. I have not used it enough (600 miles in two years!) due to having too many bikes so it is time for it to go. I am not selling it because it has a problem.
