Description

This bike has been built by Worth Motorcycle Company (worthmotorcycles. org). a nonprofit organization that teaches at-risk youth the art of vintage European motorcycle restoration. We are a 501(c)(3) registered nonprofit which means that this motorcycle qualifies for a tax-deduction. I. along with one of our apprentices'. have been working on this bike for nearly (7) months. Privacy policy dictates the exclusion of his name so let's call the apprentice Rey. Rey is one of 12 siblings sharing a one-bedroom apartment here in NYC. Although he struggles at school. he thrives at Worth. He's curious. motivated. and genuinely committed to learning. The discrepancy between his behavior at the shop and what is being reported to me by his Dean is unbelievable. I really don't know the same Rey that they do. This is likely because Ray's achievements. interests. and challenges are being supported in a way that he's never experienced. Rey. maybe for the first time. has some sense of agency. In other words. when Rey's at Worth. he feels as though he has a bit of control over his life. and he behaves accordingly. Unfortunately. at school. the opposite is true and he behaves accordingly. We're all hoping that Rey's experience at Worth will ultimately result in positive change. There's some indication that this has already happened. although we still have quite a way to go- which is fine. I know he can do it. I just need him to know it too. Ok- the bike. it's a black 1976 BMW R60/6 which has been outfitted with the following:Electrical:Motogadget M-Unit (located under seat cowl)Shorai lithium-ion battery (located under seat cowl) Motogadget M-ButtonDynatek dual output ignition coil (3 OHM)New Enduralast charging system (voltage regulator/rectifier. stator. stator coil)Dynatek ignition boosterEnduralast starterNew wiring harnessCustom Champion spark plug cablesCarburators:(2) Dell'Orto 32sBellmouth alloy air intakesExhaust:MAC Performance header pipes (first 12" is double walled to slow down discoloration)17" Chrome shorty Dunstall style mufflerSuspension:(Rear) Works Performance Steel Trackers (13. 75")(Front) Racetech springs with Gold Valve EmulatorsCockpit:Woodcraft 3-piece Split Clip-Ons Motogadget Tiny speedometer (embedded in headlamp bucket)Toaster Tan CNCd. hand-finished triple-clamp Magura switches. levers. and gripsModified gen-lamp embedded in frame's top crossbar Wheels:Black rims relaced with stainless spokes and nipplesMetzler tiresRearsets:Custom Raask foot pegs. brake. and shift leverBodywork and Gas-tank: Black BMW R80 gas-tank with hand laid. factory spec. nbsp; pin-striping Monza gas capSingle passenger tail sectionShortened subframe One-off custom seat. made by hand using donated Alpinestars racing leatherShortened front fenderThat should just about cover it. The bike is amazing. Truly. I didn't expect it to look as good as it does because we weren't sure we'd be able to realize our vision of a tough. but beautiful and elegant all around city/canyon rider that could also be. without any real effort. a proper track bike. but I think we did. We might be able to coordinate transport depending on buyer's location. Please message me with any questions. TrulyJeremy
