Up for your consideration is a 1973 BSAB50 MX. This bike is an un-restored survivor. I bought this bike from an estate here in Montana in May of 2015. I have decided to keep my Greeves motocrosser for the AHRMA classic class. The previous owner was the original owner of the bike, nbsp;He had a garage full ofBSAbikes, ncluding a few B50 MX models. I feel this was the pick of the litter.
This bike is a nice B50. As you can see in the images, he bike is very complete and mostly original. The" Made in England" Dunlop rims are straight and the chrome is great. The front tire is most likely original. The bike still has the original kickstand. The conical hubs are beautiful.
The seat base is great with no rust. As you can see it will need a cover. I believe the fenders are still original, nd the bike still has the original airbox behind the stock sideccovers. The bars and Amal levers are original as well. The paint on the frame shows well. As you can see in the pictures, his is a matching numbers bike - the serial number is 00449, nd the engine number is AH 00449.
This bike had been stored indoors a long time. We checked the oil level, leaned the petcock (just the left because the right hand side lever broke off when I attempted to turn it on) Pulled the plug to check for spark, ut in fresh gas, nbsp;brought it up to TDC, nd theBSAfired up on the first kick. All three of us standing there were simply floored. The bike will settle into an idle and run. Please check the short video we made of the first ride after slumber: Issues: Rear fender has a crack. Rear tire is an old Trelleborg which is very cool but also very worn. Tank has a ding. The right side petcock will need to be replaced. Carb should be cleaned and cables replaced. Seat needs a cover. This bike is over forty years old and should be gone over completely before being ridden or raced.
The brakes - front and rear - are very ineffective (meaning they barely stop the bike) and NEED to be gone through. It is very powerful and not at all a beginner's bike. No warranty - this bike is being sold as is, nd as stated should be gone through thoroughly by qualified mechanic before riding. This bike is being sold with a bill of sale only - no title.
The downpipe is of course not original but it 1. Looks really cool. 2. It out of the way so you don't burn your leg and 3. Is much quieter than stock.
This bike is located in just off Interstate 90 in Missoula, ontana. I can hold the bike in secure storage for up to three weeks and am happy to make arrangements with you or your shipper.
Please look at the pictures closely and message with any questions. If you have a 0 feedback score, lease message before bidding.
