Description

This motorcycle is the most fun to ride my 26 motorcycle collection. I am a professional Porsche mechanic of 45 years and work at the highest levels of workmanship without regards to expense or level of difficulty. All the mechanical work was done by me including the cylinder head the machine work. This motorcycle has been fully refurbished as needed front to rear. top to bottom. Every need has been addressed. The candy red paint had faded to a silver on the top portions of the tin ware so I had it repainted professionally by who I think are the best painter guys in Houston using a state of the art color analyzer that looked at the paint under the center trim strip. In fact the paint has been used to correctly paint other Rocket III’s in the area. All work done was without compromise. The cylinder head was removed to install Porsche rocker arm swivels. valve stem seals and a full set of new valves. The primary drive was resealed. clutch disc replaced. new drive chains. carburetors were kited and the forks resealed and new gaiters installed. Everything has been done correctly. The engine was assembled with every detail and measurement correct. This motorcycle has never been botched or butchered and was missing nothing when I got it. I have had the machine about 8 years now. The only non-standard parts are a change to a set of Flanders handle bars and longer cables as needed. I believe they were installed when the bike was new or soon thereafter. There are two issues: 1. one of the two horns doesn’t work. 2. the trip meter will not reset but the odometer (total mileage) works just fine. The motorcycle will usually start with 1-3 kicks even after sitting for weeks. Being a triple it doesn’t kick back and I think it is an easy non-threating bike to start. The engine is quiet while running. making really cool mechanical noises and it will idle quite low. The exhaust sounds amazing at idle with a very muscular thumping presence that resonates making you grin ear to ear. it sounds like a turbine while cruising and will wail like a banshee when under a load with the ability to be heard from afar. It is not a loud. obnoxious motorcycle. it simply has a tone and character that is distinct and really exciting. It is a very gratifying motorcycle to ride. As I mentioned it is my favorite to ride. very cool and different looking. reliable. never has left me stranded and starts very easy. I have all the old parts. many new service parts. several books and all receipts. The motorcycle seems to be fully sorted out and carburets well. the clutch works perfectly and the shifting is great. It is absolutely a major rush to ride this magnificent machine. I am happy to answer any questions. I will be frank. candid and polite to you. I will supply any picture. receipt or whatever I can to help you feel good about buying this special motorcycle. This motorcycle needs nothing other than a new owner. Why sale it? Because I am expanding my business once again and that's the truth. See my other things for sale as they are posted. an awesome 1969 Velocette Thruxton is next to go. This motorcycle does not have a warranty of any kind. If my descriptions and choice of words don't match your impressions or your opinions then you need to know that I have no intentions of. or desire to lead you astray or fib (lie) to you. I simply want to sell you my motorcycle and for you to own motorcycling icon. Read up on the Rocket III and you will see that it is a great piece of motorcycling history. Ray guns and all!
