Description

In 1985 Cagiva purchased Ducati from the Italian government and wanted to go racing. In 1989 and 1990 Cagiva won the Paris to Dakar with a motorcycle that looked very similar to this one. Purchased from an Ex-Cagiva employee here in the United States he explained that less than (10) came to the US as promotion to celebrate the winning of the race.
This limited edition is no Ducati Elefant, t is a completely reworked motorcycle. The 'stamped' Ducati motor has the bottom end of a 888, iston and cylinders from a 900SS, uel injection from a Paso 907ie and a 5 speed transmission. The suspension is full Ohlins, omething the Elefant did not have. The livery is a replica of the racer Cagiva won the race upon.
Life has become busy enough it is time for me to share with others some of the rare motorcycles I have collected over the years. The bikes are not getting the attention and the time has come.
This motorcycle was parked approximately two years ago in running condition. It is a true blast to ride and comes with a Corbin seat and aftermarket exhaust. Tires are new and have less than 1,000 miles on them. It is comfortable and makes a statement anywhere it goes. No one has ever seen one before and most think is a new bike, ot a 25 year old motorcycle. Its capable on the highway and in the turns. All in all, will miss the fun ride.
There is a few details that should be noted about its condition. First the mileage on the odometer is just under 16,000 kilometers, ulling out of my tight garage a bungee cord wrapped its self around the wheel braking the connection to the speedometer drive less than 100 miles ago. As this is a high pressure fuel system, he hoses between the tank and fuel pump always needed checking, his is something that will after sitting require service. There is a choke on the fuel injection, he cable should be adjusted as it has always felt loose. Although not in the photo's the bike was knocked over and there is a an approximate 1" square rash on the bottom right side of the tank. I am happy to share a photo. Bike is delivered without a battery and you should plan for service and belts at minimum.
The motorcycle is sold with a bill of sale.
