Project bike, lose to ready to ride and have a blast on. In particular the lower section on title...
If you are not familiar with what this bike is originally, oogle Cagiva Elefant 900. These bike were built for the insane Dakar Rally in Africa now held in South America. Non stop 2000 mile race over any terrain. These bike are built with overkill on the inverted front end, eefy swingarm, remo Brakes, kron rims.....Its a beast that is light and nimble.
In the stock rally trim it is a lot going on, ull fairings, uge gas tank that covers side of motor, tc. I wanted to do this as a bare bones killer 900 Ducati Dual Sport. The body parts were sold off. Dont ask, dont have them.
ENGINE- when I got the bike, checked visually, ooked at timing bets to make sure they where no dried out, he motor turned nicely. I wired past ignition switch and with starter fluid it fired up immediately, iterally. After that I ran remote Gas supply to it, illed carbs, nd it fired up again, eld idle up for a minute and let off and it idled on its own. Pretty amazed for a bike thatd been sitting. That was a year ago. I would of course still clean carbs, nd was planning on rejetting since to addition of pods and freer flowing exhaust....the factory Cagiva exhaust had a Converter muffler that was very heavy and restrictive.
EXHAUST- I have redone rear of exhaust into a 2 into 1 to a Two Brothers Carbon muffler.
WHEELS and BRAKES- wheels ar Akrons made in Spain, op of the line and strong. Brakes ar Brembos, ual front, ingle rear.
CONTROLS- I have replaced the levers and Masters, nd made new clutch and front brake lines. All brakes and clutch hydraulics are bled and working and ready to go.
FRAME- stock Cagiva front cradle, unbolted the rear subframe ( still have if wanted) and made a simpler, leeker, ear frame. I used 7/8" and 1" .120 wall tube. And beefed up the bolt on mounting so it can hold 2 riders, ags, nything. Slick and strong.
FORK- Its factory Cagiva part, uge Inverted front end, oogle it, dont know much about maker. But its awesome. Some pitting in upper aluminum outer housing.
WIRE harness, AUGES- I removed all the factory harness intact. I cut it in one spot only. It will go with bike, ut I had no intention to use it. The Ignition and charging system on the Ducati 900 motor is very simple to minimally wire, dd a head light and tail, one. I saved Gauge cluster as well that will go with bik, gain wasnt going to use it myself, ut it does work and reflects bike mileage.
*****TITLE and VIN- This bike was gotten from auction, t was cleared as clean bike, ut was a no title sale. I was going to build this as My personal bike. I bought a Cagiva Title and The frame that went with that title. It is an earlier year 80's Title and frame/VIN. The thick plate vin tag is held on with a single small bead on either end. I was going to run that vin and title which is old enough to get historic plates in my state, o inspection. so no signals, orn, tc needed.
IMPORTANT- I am selling this bike with vin and frame unmolested on bike, ND it comes with the extra Frame neck and Title that Match. Do what You will with that. I dont know what state you live in, dont know the inspection or no inspection on historic tags apps. This is being sold as it is.
NEEDED to RUN and RIDE- A seat pan made up and upholstered, Gas tank adapted or more likely made up and Fabbed. Ignition box and alternator wired, attery and battery tray added. Couple lights. Rejet carbs. I like using Sigma6 carb kits to simplify guess work. Its a low miles motor and trans, lutch and brakes are ready to ride, dd a new chain.Tires look like they where replaced new and not ridden, till soft. Good to go.
I am in northern Philly area. I can deliver within a couple hundred miles for a few buck, ast that, uyer needs to pick up, r arrange shipping.
SELLING THIS CHEAP as I need funds. Feel free to ask questions, ut please only if you are dead serious potential buyer.
Thanks, eff
