1942 Harley Davidson EL Knucklehead Old School Period Bobber, Hill Climber

In this auction offered to you by Rusty Nuts Originals of Greenville. South Carolina is Pete Hill built (worlds fastest Knucklehead) 1942 EL Knucklehead sitting in a 41 factory de-raked Knucklehead frame. Not an awful lot of these frames exist. They consisted of a 40 head casting. the down tubes and back bone were bent at the factory to adjust trail on early 41 models for the new front wheel option before the 41 head castings were in. This is a legit frame and story confirmed by Matt at Wheels Through Time. please do your homework and know what you're looking at before bidding. Matt even suggests that it may have been a military model with the factory appearing addition of the 1/2-20 bungs on the upper back half of the frame accompanied with OD green paint showing through in places under the black paint. Matts other theory is that it may have been some sort of factory racer but with no evidence to support either. its only speculation. If you're not familiar with both world famous Wheels Through Time or Pete Hill Motorcycles. they are both ultimate authorities on classic Harley Davidsons. take a few minutes and check them out. With all of that being said. I've included pictures of the casting numbers on both the axle block casting and the head casting giving the general identification of the frame. Sitting in this frame is a freshly rebuilt 42 EL. There are no belly numbers on the left side case. good VIN boss and great looking numbers. nbsp;right side reads a 40 production date. I've included casting numbers on both heads and rockers. It does have splined sprocket shaft wheels in it. has had no obvious repairs and again. is brand new. Its running a Super E at present but have a Linkert available should you prefer. This bike is a rider. several modern touches with classic bones. The tanks are 4. 5s. bobbed rear fender. both reproduction. brushed bare metal with some character. faded red scallops under high gloss clear . Two light dash. with reproduction brushed aluminum speedo. Sparto tail light. GMA rear juice brakes. aftermarket Panhead 4 spd. Cycle Electric generator and end cap regulator. Paugcho reproduction bars. Guide headlight. FXE/XL front wheel. Bridgestone knobbys (that actually ride well). HD 41 and later rigid fork and aftermarket spring fork. Velo Racer solo seat. adjustable mono shock instead of pogo. Again. this bike is a rider. some modern amenities with classic guts. If you're looking for a museum piece. this isn't it. If you're looking for a 100 point restoration. factory original or factory correct motorcycle. this isn't it. If you're looking for a solid. great looking. great performing. rider friendly Knucklehead. this is it. There enough genuine Harley Davidson Knucklehead parts here to secure an investment over time but not so many as to make it unaffordable or an expensive decoration that never sees the road.
