Description

1936 HARLEY DAVIDSON "KNUCKLEHEAD" W/SIDECAR Older restoration 36EL1178 This is an older restored example of the first year of the infamous "Knucklehead. I am not an expert. This bike came to me about seven years ago. exactly as you see it. From the file that I got with the bike. it was sold at a Crystal River. FL auction house to its former owner in 1997. My understanding was that it was completely restored recently prior to that event. I have been told that the frame on the 1936 model was very thin and that most were replaced a year or two later by the Harley dealers. Apparently. this example is one of them as it has no numbers and it has the sturdier frame. It ran and rode very well when I got it. It has been just sitting in my private museum since. No doubt. with fresh gas and a new battery it will fire right up. The former owner was not a motorcycle collector. but was quite famous in the CCCA circles. He also owned the Mormon Meteor Duesenberg race car. No doubt. there are odds and ends of this bike that are not correct for the year. I do not know the former ownership history. I do not have "before restoration" photos. I have a buy it now price. I encourage people. if seriously interested. to inspect the bike before buying it. I might consider a C-2 Corvette matching number coupe or a proper and correct 1962 Corvette trade. The bike is museum stored in Lynchburg. Virginia. PLEASE NOTE: The sidecar chassis has its VIN and it begins with the number 42. I am told that this means that the sidecar chassis is a 1942. Again. I am told that aside from the VIN itself that there are no differences. It is equipped with the standard side-hack Harley 3 speed transmision with reverse. Again. when I rode it last the clutch and the transmission all worked well with no issues. PLEASE NOTE: If no one exercises the BUY it NOW option. realistic OFFERS will be considered. PLEASE NOTE: After several requests for engine belly case numbers. I put the bike up on blocks today (3-30-15) unbolted the skid plate. searched around - found them and photographed them. Note several additional PHOTOS have been ADDED. The belly numbers are 36-1207 / 36-1207 side to side / matched cases PLEASE NOTE: Nothing on this bike shows any evidence of ever being pitted or rusted. There is no evidence of prior accident damage. I believe that this bike was always kept inside and was never in bad shape. PLEASE NOTE: The odometer reads 1632 miles. It is my belief that this is the mileage since it was restored. TRUE MILEAGE IS UNKNOWN. Contact us via EBAY or by text and cell (two - one - five /nine - zero - six - 7001). Shown strictly by appointment. BUY IT NOW $67. 00
