Description

The Honda VFR Interceptor series has maintained an extremely loyal owners' base for very good reason. The bikes are known for their reliability and their versatility. They make great sport-touring bikes, specially for solo riders. Go to any motorcycle road racing event in the world and you will see many of these bikes in the parking lots. They are very approachable and thus also make good commuters. The V-4 engine is smooth and satisfying, nd the bikes handle and stop well. Many enthusiasts' sites on the Internet are dedicated to the ownership and enjoyment of these bikes, o finding information, dvice and fellowship among other VFR owners is extraordinarily easy, lmost no matter where in the world you may be.
Contrary to what some might say, very used bike has a story to tell. This VFR800 was owned by two persons, ut the second owner, y brother-in-law, robably rode the bike very little, f at all. He bought the bike in February 2014, owever, e passed away in November 2014. He was virtually disabled due to back and shoulder issues, nd I think he probably bought the bike as much just to have it and look at it as anything else. He had owned several other bikes when younger. He had never mentioned having this bike and we only discovered it in his garage after his passing. The original owner was a local doctor. The bike is being sold out of my brother-in-law's estate. We have all necessary paperwork including clear title to be able to transfer clean title to the buyer. No issues.
The pictures tell the story that really matters for this bike. I currently ride almost daily and have owned and ridden a number of bikes over the last 45+ years, nd this is a nice bike. The appearance in the photos reflects the bike almost as we found it. I literally only washed the dust off the bike with a mild cleaner, lew it dry, nd did a little quick detailing to present the bike as you see it here. I also cleaned the chain and lubed it with white Motorex chain lube. I installed a new battery and a Battery Tender charging lead I had in the tool box. Finally, added air to the tires and performed a proof ride to make sure all was operational.
As far as I can tell, verything is as it should be. The bike fires right up, ettles into a smooth idle, nd warms normally. Throttle response on-bike is very good and the bike revs freely just like Honda intended for the V-4. The bike is equipped with a rear fender eliminator kit, clamp-style cruise control which I have left on the bike, n MRA aftermarket windscreen with an adjustable upper airfoil, he stock removable passenger seat (pillion) cover, nd stock Honda hard luggage and mounting framework and rack. Otherwise, his is a very clean, tock and unmolested bike. After some freshening, ou should be able to pack this bike for as long a road trip as you care to take.
From what we can see in the Owner's Manual, he original owner had the regular required 600-mile, 000-mile and 8,000-mile service work performed at the local authorized Honda dealership. We only have the receipt for the 8,000-mile service in the records we found, ut the Owner's Manual was marked by the original owner indicating the first two services were performed on schedule. There is an indication on the receipt for the 8,000-mile service that the bike had been in the shop a year earlier for a factory recall to replace the stator. The same receipt shows everything was fine with the charging system at the time of the 8,000-mile service. If I were going to keep the bike (and I was tempted but lack of space prevents it), would change all fluids and filters just to establish a base point for future regular maintenance. I would recommend the buyer do these items as well, r have them done. In my experience, oing them yourself is the best way to start a long-term relationship with any "new" bike or car added to the stable anyway.
We may list the bike elsewhere and locally as well, nd we reserve the right to end the auction early. We will accept PayPal for the required deposit, nd cashier's or certified check, oney order, ersonal check, r cash (in person only) for the balance due. However, ny payment method other than cash must clear before the release of the bike will be arranged.
We would be happy to show the bike, y appointment only. No test rides unless you are a licensed rider and have cash or security in-hand. I will do my best to answer any questions asked, nd I certainly encourage you to ask anything you need to know, ut I request patience as I am usually occupied during normal working hours. If you need to arrange shipping, will meet the shipper to assist as necessary with loading. If you need assistance in selecting a shipper, may be able to offer some help.
Best of luck, nd ride safe!

NOTICE 8-11-2015: In speaking with a potential buyer who inquired about picking the bike up and riding it home to another State, realized there is some important info I need to post. Specifically, s mentioned in the original listing, he bike is being sold out of my deceased brother-in-law's estate. However, did not make it clear he had never registered or titled the bike in his name in the 9 months he had it, rom February to November 2014. Therefore, he bike is not currently registered and does not have a current State inspection. We DO have all necessary paperwork to transfer a clean title to a new owner. I have no doubts the bike can pass inspection, ut we do not have the bike insured and therefore cannot get it inspected in Texas, s evidence of insurance is required for inspection purposes. I can e-mail copies of the title, motor vehicle bill of sale, nd an official State of Texas Error Affidavit to correct the date of sale shown by the original owner on the title when he signed it over to my brother-in-law. This Error Affidavit will reflect the date of sale to the new owner. All required signatures from the original owner have been obtained for these documents. If you live in Texas, temporary transport permit can be purchased and downloaded from http://www.txdmv.gov/motorists/register-your-vehicle/temporary-permits which will allow legal operation of the vehicle on Texas roads once it has passed inspection (insurance required for inspection), nd before you have registered the bike in your name. If you live in any other State, nd want to ride the bike home, ou will have to check the laws in the applicable States.
